To Buffalo: Bill Guerin
To Islanders: Jordon Southorn and a 3rd. or just a 2nd

Guerin IMO would be a good fit for Florida, giving them some much needed depth and leadership up front.

OT, but Botta's blog is fantastic and a daily read for me, and I have no feeling towards or against the Islanders. Great insight.

What if we packaged him up with a 2nd? I would think that should return a late first.

Boston, Pens, Flyers, or Habs seem the most likely teams....Good news for Isles !

Botta in earlier text said Guerin only had a 20% chance to return to the team next year.

Not really, cause I wouldnt be packaging up the Isles 2nd with Guerin. We have two others to play with, one being Bostons which will likely be a 50-60 pick.

If he is traded, I'm guessing it'll be either to Boston or Pittsburgh.

I would love to see the isles be able to make that deal, but would guerin really be worth moving back 30 spots in the draft this year?

To a team with a good roster and depth, sure I believe so.

How about Nokelainen

Seriously, I'd do Lashoff, Karsums, our 4th in 2010 and our 6th in 2009 (no 5th in '09) to get Guerin and our 2009 2nd back.

How about:

To BOS: Guerin, Martinek, BOS 2nd

To NYI: Lashoff, Stuart, Sobotka, Arniel

Don't know, I'd hate to lose either of Sobotka or Arniel, as both have been seemingly great picks based on their draft positions (heck, Arniel was ranked with Colborne by a lot of scouting services and slipped to the 4th).

Martinek's never done much for me, but getting that 2nd back in this draft would be awfully nice. That'd be a tough trade to turn down from Chiarelli's standpoint.

Agreed. I'd jump for joy if we could land a 2nd. The only thing that may make that happen is a bit of a bidding war between teams.

If I had to guess, don't ask me why, I can see Billy G. in a Rangers sweater by the deadline. It wouldn't sting at all as he sucks if you ask me.

Id be interested to get Mcdonaugh out of Mtl, or Alzner out of the caps. (Might need to package a pick with guerin on either but I think its well worth it for one of those two)

Guerin back in Boston weird yet awesome at the same time.

I haven't seen much of him this season, but is he still an effective player?

While none of the teams are that far back - projected point required for the P/O's right now is 89. The Blues would have to go 14-7 to make the P/O's, and not have any of EDM, DAL, NASH, or ANA get hot, which is a REALLY tough road.

A team like the Blues might decide not to be sellers just to keep the pressure on the kids to let them know how intense a play-off type run is where every point is vital. I think it depends a lot on what sort of return they'd be looking at for Tkachuk.

I don't see any reason why PHO wouldn't trade at least Rheinprecht & Morris or COL wouldn't trade Leopold.

Either one of those guys is an insane pipe dream for a rental of Guerin. You're not going to be a blue-chipper for Guerin. More likely a 2nd round DP, and probably a marginal roster player to take a little salary back this year.
