It's not his fault he played with really ****** players, though. Seriously. Patrick Poulin. Sergei Berezin. Patrick Traverse. Juha Lind. How the **** is anyone supposed to lead that team to victory? Even though the Habs teams have been better lately, they haven't been championship caliber teams. Last time I checked, Saku was not the GM, however, so there's absolutely no way to pin it on him. (I wouldn't blame it on Gainey either because it takes time to build a consistent Cup contender. Rutherford and Burke assembled rag-tag Cup teams, but the futures of both teams are in limbo right now.)

Yeah, so many centers would have had success playing with superstars such as Kilger, Savage, Lind and oh so much more.
Is it his fault that we had some crappy players to play with? Blame the GMs, not the captain.

NO offense taken. Maybe I wasnt clear. I do not THINK that. But I feel Saku didnt get the respect and love he deserved because he has been the captain in the darkest years of the habs.

I have a lot of respect for him and i think he has been a good captain and one of the most improtant assest of the team in the last 10 years.

As I said people don't seem to understand that, or else Koivu would get a lot more respect from the fans!

Sorry, I thought you were saying that this was the reason why you didn't respect him as much, rather then explaining why others don't respect him. It's clearer now, and I do have the same opinion.

Only simple minded people think that means something though.

He is just a single player, the very little success during his tenure is because of piss poor management.

Guys chill... Haddock is not the problem. He just pointed out it should have been a penalty. The man calls a spade a spade... respect that.

It's the Demers, and CKAC, RDS, 110% people of this world who want to focus on this play and bash Koivu for his "stupid" play...

That's the people who you can see care more about bashing Koivu then about fairness, they then cloak themselves behind the appearance of impartiality. They're full of it.

I hope you understand what the "hell" I'm talking about and who "they" are

Koivu is a better player than Carbonneau ever was.

A spade a spade??? Man, did you eve look at the play? There is no penalty. I've played hockey and the majority who have played hockey will tell you that there is no penalty on that play. There is NEVER a tripping call when the pokecheck was succesfull. End of story. Go read the NHL rulebook. GO read any minor hockey's rulebook.

Poor Saku though. I wish he can win a Cup here as captain or else he'll be remembered as the captain of the Habs during the ''dark'' years.

One more point and he's a top ten scoring player in Canadiens history, that's beautiful.

agreed in full WTK.

btw im going to have to agree with ozy and say it wasnt a penalty, i mean, i viewed the 'nucks feed and even their commentators said that after review.. the exact quote was "and.. they.. they thought there couldve been a penalty there.. plekanec... although koivu was just trying to get the puck up to plekanec there so i dont think there was a penalty on the play"
