Yes, get him the **** OUT.

We should definitely have enough cap by shedding Bouillon, Dandenault, Laraque and Begin.

While you are technically correct, any incoming salary will also be prorated against the cap, so that five million player will really cost only 1.25 million. If we have 500k of space, 350k from Begin and 400k from Dandy, we can now (just) add a "5 million player".

In other words, clearing up "a prorated 3 million" off of our cap allows us to take on "a prorated 3 million" more in salary. The clearing 2.8 million of cap space is useful shorthand since, in effect, it lets us add a player with a 2.8 million yearly salary.

Most of you should be happy. I remember earlier this season this board was lit up with posts saying to trade the old dead weight to make room for the young guns. For what its worth, Dandy is still useful to us, Begin wasn't. If Stewart, D'Ago, Maxpac are gonna play ahead of him then I'm amazed BG got anything useful at all. I don't see Dandy going unless its to make cap room space, or we get another D. Dandy will stay a defensive depth for the playoffs.

If he want to be traded, then go! But if he want to stay, we have room for him. He's not cheap, but could do something useful for us in the playoff.

im pretty sure this is the same case as striet, he wants to play defence, but carbo wants to use him up front. i understand his wanting to move on.

it is unfortunate, because he does bring good experience and versitility to the team. hopefully BG can get something usefull in return if this is the case.

Bad news? Dandy is and was not the guy I was thinking we had got wen he signed here. Until maybe this year, he was horrible. He sat on his fat contract and all of a sudden, contract year, he want out. So, this team stinks and for an anniversery year, well clean up clean up?

Even if some say that we over achieved last year this is not what I expected to come out of this team. I love Koivu and is courage but enough is enough. Take the team in your hands. At this point and time, I'm not sure if any UFA on this team should be signed. Losing players for nothing, well we are used to that and let's go in fresh next year. I'm pissed off cause all the media is gonna make quebecois this and quebecois that. First Laraques thinks he is gone, turns out it's Begin. Now Dandy wants out.

If Bob does nothing I'm sure that this team wants nothing to do with winning.
We have depth and got more with Begin's trade(Begin is over hype cause of the one season where he played his role to a T)

I do, in reguards to positive things. And shedding cap room to make a play for a player who might actually help us is a positive thing.

Laraque isn't going anywhere, but if we could get some cap relief from Bouillons injury as well as shedding Dandenaults salary, we could definitely afford to pick up someone going into the playoffs.

I guess Dandenault asking for a trade gets less play in the media than Laraque complaining about his playing time

Laraque said it openly. Dandenault's demand was told to us by a journalist, you the ones we can't believe...

According to Francois Gagnon, Dandy did not request to be traded

Good, now hopefully Carbonneau puts him back on D as he was playing well there before his injury.

And the plot thickens...

It wouldn't be the first time that Dreger has got something wrong (even though I think that he's fairly reliable). The Dandy trade request didn't seem to make full sense to me, so I wouldn't be shocked if the original report was misleading for some reason.
