Why not just send a 4th round pick to Atlanta for Havelid? Atlanta is going nowhere and everyone knows Havelid is returning to Sweden next year. They get a somewhat decent pick for a player who is gone next year anyway and Calgary gets a solid two-way defenseman without moving anyone.
The best one obviously would be Stralman who doesn't seem to be a favorite of Wilson. If he could be had for a reasonably cheap price, he's the one we need.
Would you send Keith Aulie(6) & Pic for Stralman(8)?
Aulie (although rated much lower) seems to be more of a Burke player.
Maybe Sutter would be interested in re-acquiring the familiar face of Jordan Leopold? He's had an up and down year but he would fill Gio's shoes well (and is UFA at the end of the season), and it could possibly lead to a cut-rate signing should he perform while he's here.
I suspect he would only cost about a 3rd.
Heard on the radio (fan960) that we don't have a 2nd or a 3rd pick.
You are almost right. According to the same page, it is the Flames' decision not Chicago's.
that same page also can't figure out if Philly traded Calgary's or their own draft pick to Edmonton in the Lupul trade... despite the fact the Lupul trade happened nearly 8 months prior to the Vandermeer trade... looks like a source of higher intelligence to me
