What about Gilbert, Gagner + high end prospect + draft pick for Bouwmeester and Horton?

Maybe oft injured Olesz. His cap hit is something like 3.2 for several more years. With all the young wingers in coming up, I would see him falling out of favor in Florida.

Matt Niskanen, Fabian Brunnstrom and a 1st rounder in 2010???

Probably won't do it but Niskanen is a Top 4 d-man in Dallas. Brunnstrom is interchangeable if someone has a better suggestion. And that 1st rounder could be changed to this year if Bouwmeester signs a contract when he comes over.

Martin's said he's not going to take back extra salary, he's said he doesn't want another team's huge contract. Iow, he has no interest in helping the Rangers with that albatross, or any other team, so it doesn't make any sense. Florida's fairly close to the cap, anyway.

Some of your offers are completely ridiculous for a pending UFA.

Would something around Ohlund or Salo and a conditional 1st be enough for the Nucks to land Jaybow?
Kubina and Stajan.

You'll learn to love Stajan....trust me!

All kidding aside, the Panthers are likley hanging onto Bouwmeester. I could see them dealing his rights to a team before July 1st.

I think Martin would be foolish not to take deal like that. I like Niskanen. 22 years old, good skater, good offensive instincts and most importantly can step right into the lineup.

Brunnstrom has not exactly set the world on fire but he has shown glimpses of being a very good forward in the league. Still on pace to score 20 goals this season.

1st in '10 is a nice draft pick to have in your back pocket. I could see Dallas very easily slipping next season and possibly missing the playoffs.

What you want and what you get are 2 different things.....JM can ask for the world but the fact is if they hold onto him J' bo is gone after this year and they get NOTHING. He is not staying in Florida, he has made that obvious so JM might have to lower his demands a bit....

That's a pretty decent deal. Would rather have Daley though.

The value is good but I'm not a Salvador fan.

I think Scott Gomez has the most value to 2 teams. Columbus and Florida. Both teams are dying to make the playoffs this year to solidify their fanbases and their businesses.

Columbus is in dire need of a top 2 center to play with Nash, and Gomez would be able to distribute the puck to him.

Florida needs to move J-Bo so they don't lose him for nothing, and don't downplay the economic impact that Scott Gomez could have in Miami. I think having a star player of Hispanic descent would do wonders to expand the fanbase in South Florida. They would be able to market the sport to an entire new group of people that I'm guessing don't know much about hockey.

I could see a Gomez, Prucha, Girardi and a conditional 2 for Bouwmeester.

I'd probably do that. I just wish the NHL would have what some other sports does, where one team can pay a percentage of a players contract. Gomez would have alot more value if that were the case.

Biggzy,

As I mentioned up top, I could see Olesz coming back in a Gomez trade to offset salary in sort of a swap for "bad contracts" -but that's just an outside opinion. How do Florida fans feel about him?

I mean its hard to tell. I'll agree Olesz's contract is pretty awful and he's been hurt mostly every season it seems like. But I'd hate to give up on him because he has some serious potential. A friend of mine that I go to the games with said he'd never come to another Panthers game if they traded Olesz lol, but I don't feel the same way. I wouldn't be opposed to the trade though. Gomez has gotten a bad rap mainly because his contract sucks, but I think he's a really good player and could do well with Horton. He's actually right on par with his points total per season. I'm really glad I'm not a GM, too many decisions to make lol.
