As dominant as he can be (Pronger), I hate the guy, his bs distractions and his dirty play. I'd way prefer J Bo. We want to continue building for the future as well as bolstering for this years run. The latter fits more into that picture.

How does J-bo fit into our long term future? He is a UFA on July 1st.

He's young (relatively). So resigning him (more chances of him than Pronger) fits perfectly into our future, ergo, he's not just a rental.

I don't hate Higgins, but I strongly believe he is being surpassed by the likes of Pacioretty, A. Kost, and even D'Agostini in terms of their potential to be top 6 forwards. The 27 goal campaign was a pleasant surprise, but one I doubt he replicates often, or for that matter consistently.
I'll give you A-Kost. But Pacioretty and D'Agostini are nowhere near Higgins. D'Agostini is a poor man's Michael Ryder, and if not for injuries neither would be in the league right now IMO.

So sign him on July 1st and keep McDonagh/Subban Higgins and our 1st rounder.

More than Vinny going to Toronto? Come on, you can seriously choose way more worse nightmares than that

I don't really like Kaberle at all. He's soft-ish and just as invisible as Markov in high-pressure/hard-forcheck situations. (not that Markov is bad...). We need a good #2 like Hamhuis not Kaberle.

When I was a kid, there was a guy who loved to spend money needlessly and was so proud of it he would tell everyone before he did it. We get a bit of that here, too!

If Markov was invisible when under pressure and forecheck, wouldn't teams be forecheking him hard every game?

A while ago Asterix said Pronger wasn't playing very well and wasn't what he used to be. I am going to take his word for this because he sees him alot more than we do being in the west. The Ducks are a shadow of what they used to be with the same defensive core so if Pronger is still the impact D-man he used to be why are they not doing better? I'm with Asterix, Pronger is not somebody I'd like to see us acquire and lose both current and future potentially good players for.

That's one reason teams have NHL scouts, you can't assume a player is what he was 5 years ago.

Pronger's wife won't let him play in Canada again.

I want him for the playoff push AND the future. July 1st is a little late. But like i said previously, only if it's not at such a high cost (ie. Subban, McDo). I was just saying I prefer him to Pronger IF you are gonna try to get someone.

Same here. I hate Pronger, due to his dirty and nasty hits, but is something that we can certainly use. Putting Pronger with Schneider and Markov with Komi would be ideal IMO. The cost could be pretty high however.

Florida is getting offers better than Lupul and Carle, that means Subban/McDonagh plus D'agostini or Pacioretty. Plus you have no guarantee you can sign him...not in our current situation.

I wouldn't mind Mike van Ryn if he is available.

Prongs will cost too much and his salary for next year is too much for us to fill the team out. But if gainey wants prongs, go ahead just don't trade subban at all for any reason. He is gonna be a big star for us as soon as next year maybe. I really have high hopes for subban. His style is amazing, and will be perfect for the habs.

I would NOT trade Pacioretty McDonagh or Subban unless Lecavalier or another star player was involved. Not for Jokinen either.

Pacioretty has been our best forward for the last 3 weeks, he deserves to be on this team just as much as any forward we have.

We don't need a defensemen that'll cost us an arm and a Subban. We need a defensively responsible Dman for our 2nd and 3rd pairing
