Koistinen

In all seriousness, Rinne has been something special to watch. If his recent play is legit (which I believe it is), he is the best goaltender to wear a Predators uniform.

everything will be better once sulzer is healthy. i can't wait to watch him regularly with the preds. he's a good guy.

no doubt about it. rinne is a legit starter in the NHL. and he's getting better and better i think. he looked a bit shaky early this season, but he's so calm now.

I'd say it's definitely legit. And if this is what we'll see for years to come he'll be one of the best to wear any uniform. P.S. thank you Trotz for taking 22 off the PP. This may be one of the only games I'm not ps'd about some aspect of his coaching.

PEKKA RINNE baby, not that the Wings had many decent scoring chances though.

Great game...HUGE WIN. But Trotz still isn't off the hook. Tootoo still showed up on the last power play even though the previous power play line produced. Jones got the least amount of ice time on the team in a game I though for sure would be a great opportunity to get experience. VK saw minimal time after scoring the first and game winning goal. It seems Trotz is quick to punish yet slow to reward. I thaught the 4th line could have rolled more than normal tonight. And finally, a point I haven't heard before, but have noticed for a while now. Even though he FINALLY put another puck in the net. Philstroms needs to get off the ice faster. Too many times do I see him taking one and a half shifts. A perfect example was mid second and early third periods tonight. The lines got completely screwed because of too long of shifts by AP, and a scoring chance also came from it. I've noticed it for a bit now and it needs to stop. Great show from the guys though. But 2 of the next 3 are expected, so right back to work.

ie.

FIDDLER, VERNON 15:38 27
PIHLSTROM, ANTTI 15:09 21

almost same TOI yet Vern had 6 more shifts. Aren't they the same line? How did AP make up 5 extra shifts of time.

I turned on the radio at work tonight and one of my co-workers started *****ing at me because he hates hockey. I leave the room and ask him if he heard the score and he says 5-0 Preds. I was like **** you, don't mess with me like that. I heard it a few seconds later. Still can't believe it.

My Dad said last night that it was good the Wings were playing on Friday night because they would be tired, I said yeah right they'll just be warmed up.

Thankfully I was wrong.

My buddy had tickets but gave them away to a friend because it was their birthday or something, I don't know. I called him after the game, he was so pissed.

So now they're 8th in the West? I just looked they've got 66pts? It seems like last week they were 2nd to last in the conference.

Edit: Anybody have the Weber fight?

Only for a little while, EDM or MIN will be a point ahead after tonight. Webs fight was OK, 2-3 good uppercuts resulting in lilya missing some time deservingly after his pansy face pull from behind.

Why exactly is the Redwings-Preds game tonight tied to "Baba O'Riley"? Please fill me in, I feel like I'm missing something. Thanks.
Well, it may have been a giveaway that I misspelled "O'Riley." That was deliberate in honor of Cal O'Reilly, who was recalled last night.

I thought everyone played well, but I want to give special praise to Koistinen. I thought he played really well tonight and has adjusted to the forward position well. He's taking advantage of the opportunity presented to him by the coaching staff to make himself an asset to this team again. As long as he plays with confidence and tenacity, he could make himself into an effective bottom-six winger. Plus, the guy has shown willing to go to the net. I'll take that from anyone willing to do it on this roster.

We forechecked the Red Wings into oblivion, and Smithson-Legwand-Ward was a big part of that. Much like the Phoenix game, we pressed the attack and forced Detroit out of their comfort zone. We did that all night long and kept the game under control for the better part of 60 minutes.

After the second goal, I was going crazy. After Pihlstrom scored, I got a little misty-eyed for him. He's got to be the hardest-working 2-goal scorer in the NHL.

Weber looked like the Weber from October rather than the Weber from January. Great game for him and for Suter.

The SAD line is back to where it was in 06-07. The line looks great, and if Erat gets back with Legwand and Ward, we have two VERy effective lines (although Ward could perhaps be replaced with Jones to make that line more talented).

Great game, great win. Nice to witness history first-hand like that. Now let's build on it instead of the usual post-big-game-letdown.
