Mtl/stl

To STL
Higgins, Weber, Dandenault, 3rd

To Mtl
Tkachuk, Polak

Canadiens get a good young D-man and a big UFA centerman to replace Lang

Blues get a good winger in Higgins and a good offensive D-man prospect in Weber and Dandenault plus a 3rd rd pick

I really don't want to trade Polak, but man, we have a lot of defensemen and I really like Chris Higgins. Would you consider dropping the pick and changing Polak to Wagner or Woywitka?

No thank you to trading Polak.

I think he should be our #1 priority signing this off-season.

We've got a ton of prospects already. We're at the point where we don't need to continue stockpiling - we need to see which of them we want going forward.

unless the Blues get blown out tonight and on the 3rd vs Detroit...trading Tkachuk is a white flag.

No dice.

I wouldn't mind Higgins, but not that much.

Polak is a young replacement for McKee. He plays a strong defensive game and is very mobile. Once he gets a quicker shot on the point (which he was pre-injury), he will be a formidable #4 Dman for the Blues.

Id consider Tkachuk + Junland for Higgins.

Id be more willing to move Junland with his defensive adjustment to the NA game in question. The Blues have offense with EJ, Petro, and Colaiacovo, + POlak and Brewer have offensive upside...Cole in the next 3 years is steadying type w/ offensive upside. Id throw in Kana too, he may not ever make it to St Louis, but a new organization might move him up.

Value-wise it's not that bad, but Tkachuk is a C?

He has played it the last two seasons out of necessity...but he is MUCH better offensively on the wing.

What we need is a big center to replace Lang in Tkachuk and a good d-man. We don't need prospects because we are going for the cup. Is there any good D you guys have that isnt untouchable or paid big bucks?

Tkachuk is a C according to TSN, ESPN and Hockeydb
and a left wing according to TSN and Yahoo.

I guess he can play both.

...He's a winger playing center. Shouldn't count on him.

Then you haven't watched much Blues hockey in the past two years. He is a more then capable center, but more of a dominant offensive force on wing. (He will win you draws...).

But KT is a better player this season then Higgins and I have no interest in Weber or Dandy. Polak is better then both.

On a side note, there is no reason for the Blues to trade for Higgins - has all of 16 points in 37 games, on pace for a whopping 40 point season if he was healthy for the entire year - TK is actually producing at a better pace this year.

We have Andy Mac and Berglund as our top two. Plus Backes has been playing fairly well and of course McClement. Plus Oshie and Eller (next season he will be in north america).

So St. Louis gives up the better assets in a quantity for quality trade - even if it is for a rental.

Non need for Tkachuk and a D-man prospect, but thanks for coming!

Blues can be a great partner in trade with a lot of offensive prospects in minor and juniors, our need actually.

Confusing sentence there but if you're talking about Polak, I really wouldn't consider him a "prospect" anymore. He's proven he is meant for this league.

zero chance from montreal's perspective. 0.

dandenault is a wash, higgins at 25 and an rfa is not being traded for a UFA...and weber is our BEST dman prospect right now is not being dealt. don't know much about polak..but i do know after already giving up our 2nd (for Schneider), we're not touching our 3rd

The Blues say no. Polak is staying and the Blues are playoff bound this year.

Polak has really grown into a very solid D-Man this year.

I'd love to grab Higgins, he seems like he'd be a great fit in STL.

This isn't a total "sell" move, but it's close. My current instinct is that Tkachuk will be a Blue on March 5.

I love Polak, but i'd also love to get Higgins.

That'd be a tough call.
