According to www.islanderspointblank.com, sources say the Islanders have a deal in principle to send Guerin 'to an Eastern team' which would be finalized on Sunday. The report indicates the Islanders would receive an early-round draft pick in return.

Sources tell TSN that Guerin has been told he likely will not learn which team has expressed interest until the morning, as the Islanders work on finalizing a deal. However, if a deal is in the works, the Boston Bruins are not involved in the trade.

You would not be dreaming if this was to happen. It would be a nightmare.

Seriously, lose the hate or stop posting nonsensical dumb posts that do nothing to address the original intent of the thread..

For once I'm glad we never come out on top when we're one of the leading candidates.

Eklund has said that he found out Philly isn't the team. As much as we bash the dude this is his most solid team to be reporting on in Philly (hometown and he has been right with Philly before).

Since the Habs don't have a 2nd round pick I certainly hope that Gainey didn't trade his 1st rounder for 38 year old Bill Guerin...

My guess is he is going to the Caps

So we have a crying need for help at Defence and Center. We might be able to juggle a bit to fit someone at Left Wing......And we get....A Right Winger?

Doesn't make much sense unless some of our winger(s) are gone before the deadline.

Guerin will likely stay as close to LI as possible. His family is on LI and he stated in the past his family likes it there. So I would imagine it will be somewhere close to LI. Hopefully we hear word soon.

Spectors: "Botta also rules out Florida and suggests Montreal and Washington "seem to lead the pack" but said to take that with a grain of salt."

If you read the report, it seems like the guy is realy only assuming we're in the running because he thinks we faced the Caps today. They faced the Bruins.

Quote:
Montreal and Washington seem to lead the pack, but that could be simply a) process of elimination and b) because the Islanders had two scouts at their game against each other this afternoon. (Take this bullet with the least grain of salt, folks).
Please god no to Guerin.

Definitely Pittsburgh or Washington. No way we traded for another winger.

He doesn't seem to be what we need, unless he can play center. In which case he is big, right-handed, good for at least 20 goals and 2 years removed from a 30-goal season... could do worse at C I guess.

If he can't play C then I wouldn't get it and I doubt he's coming to Montreal.

Actually, Pittsburgh doesn't make sense. He gets choice of where he goes due to his NTC & he wants to go to a eastern contender and the Pens prolly won't even make the playoffs. BOS, MTL, WAS I'd imagine are his choices.

I'd trade my 1st to the Islanders along with some prospects... for their first. But they'd never do that.

If we get Guerin and a 1st goes the other way, several people didn't do their jobs.

Guerin isn't worth a 1st rounder and wouldn't fetch that from any team right. There are cheaper versions of Guerin out there.

Says who? They're one point out and imo are a better team then NYR, Carolina, Buffalo and Florida.

Why wouldn't he want to play with Malkin/Crosby? Especially if he's looking for a contract next year.
