A few trade thoughts....

Trade #1

To Boston: Pronger, R. Niedermayer and 2nd pick in '10
To Anaheim: Kessel, Colburne, 2 first round picks ('09,'11)

Rationale: Boston needs to add a stud d-man to make this team a Stanley Cup contender...R. Niedermayer helps provide timely defensive depth at a crucial time...everyone knows defence wins the Cup.

Trade #2

To Colorado: Backstrom and Gaborik
To Minnesota: Hejduk, Raycroft (or Budaj) and Liles

Rationale: The rebuild is on in Colorado. To get two players back of this quality (Gabby is a bit of a question mark I know) you have to give up something and a signed Hejduk is worth more, IMO, than a unsigned Gabby. IF Minny knows they can't resign either of these players AND they look to be on the outside of the playoffs...Hejduk and Liles goes a long way to supporting the team when they will most likely loose Backstrom and Gabby for nothing. For Colorado they get negotiating rights for a few extra months and would need to know going in there would be a good chance they could sign these guys.

Trade #3

To Vancouver: Lapperiere
To Colorado: Bolduc and 4th round pick '09

OR

To Detroit: Lapperiere
To Colorado: 2nd round pick '09

Rationale: Both coaches are asking their respective GM's to get Lapperiere...both teams would like to add a defensive minded forward...I am not sure which is the better offer.

The rebuild is on in Colorado, so they trade for two UFAs?

No way Boston does the first trade. You make it sound like they need a player like Rob Niedermayer when in fact they do not. Take away Kessel, Niedermayer and Anaheim's 2nd.

Rob Niedermayer for Colburne, 2 first round picks ('09,'11)! Holy overpayment Batman!

Boston has a stud Dman named Chara. Boston has a pretty decent #2 guy in Wideman. Without Kessel, Boston does not have a top line RW. Your deal makes no sense.

Read his post, it would Pronger for Colburne and 2 firsts, which is already a fabricated rumor anyway.

Why would vancouver trade for Ian Laperriere he is 35 the canucks already have enough guys with experience on the roster also he has 0 points in his last 5 games Alexandre Bolduc still has potential and hes only 23 and a fourth round pick no way maybe just a 3rd for him not a prospect and a pick.

Kessel+ for Pronger would make sense for both teams IMO. No need for such a fantasy blockbuster.

A deal involving Kessel may have sense for the other team, but not for the Bruins.

Avalanche don't do the 2nd trade. First, you have two NTC to deal with. So, it's not going to happen. 2nd, they are not trading two of their best players for two UFA's, one who is perpetually broken, to a division rival. Sorry, we'll wait to see if Backstrom hits the market in the summer.

have to agree with hockeyfish, there's no reason for the Avs to do trade #2, I'd love to have Bakstrom but not in that deal

all right. Then that leaves the Bruins trading Kessel for Rob Neidermayer and a 2nd...that seems about right.

This whole post is a sight for sore eyes. He has 0 points in his last 5 games? That's not a great sample size..
And it's called a comma, use it!
