No update has been issued though he (Gagne) was scheduled to be re-evaluated today.

Separate matters: Niittymaki is scheduled to start at Boston tomorrow and Timonen practiced today and could be ready to play though that isn't 100% confirmed.

A slapper hit his hand during the game. He left in pain but returned and then felt discomfort afterwards.

Simon Gagne was hit by a Brian Rolston shot on his left hand and went to the locker room during the first period of yesterday's 3-0 loss to New Jersey. X-rays were negative, but Gagne said it hurt when he shot the puck.

"It's not very comfortable, and right now there's a lot of swelling . . . but the good thing is that nothing is broken," Gagne said.

Happy Snow Day.

How does that make any sense.

Spread out the work among our goalies. Right now its pretty much shared. I dont know personally either's records against Boston though....

EDIT: Found

Nitty: 3-0-1 3.02 .882

Biron: 12-12-2-1 2.66 .915

I think he's playing Nitty due to the shutout last time

There is a demanding schedule this month -- 15 games --so I suppose that will be part of the rationale.

Also, the last game against Boston could be a reason -- Nitty didn't allow a goal in relief.

Yeah but just looking at the last few games - Biron gets the shutout against LA, gets shafted against Montreal where Nitty ***** the bed, Biron did everything he can yesterday against the Devils, and then Nitty gets a first place team?

I'm fine with sharing the load, I just don't understand the every-other-game rotation we're suddenly on.

Maybe a change of pace? Stevens does seem to change the goalies for a momentum change. I really dont know. This is right before the trade deadline and Biron is sitting... do you think... naw, I dont think he is getting traded...

It surprised me too that Niitty played Saturday considering Biron has a better track record against Montreal and he came off the shutout. This week: three different first place teams in five days.

That I did not understand... considering Biron carried us against them, I thought for sure Biron would get the start against the Habs.

wow, not much of this has to do with Gagne. Well anyway, you got the message, his hand is not broken, just really swollen.

The link provided is from this morning's newspaper and the re-evaluation was supposed to take place today so an update could be pending.

UPDATE:

Giroux can't be recalled for the game tomorrow since Timonen's status isn't 100% certain (though he is probable). Thus, Guenin has to be with the team as security.

Gagne is scheduled to play.

That line is absolutely baffling. They must have been giving him like 6 goals of support per game.

November 25, 2005: Flyers 5 - Bruins 3 (28 shots against)

January 2, 2006: Flyers 1 - Bruins 0 (27)

January 19, 2006: Bruins 5 (18) - Flyers 2

February 19, 2007: Bruins 6 (5 goals on 17 shots) - Flyers 3

November 26, 2007: Bruins 6 (2 goals on 17 shots in relief) - Flyers 3; Nitty is credited with the loss.

January 12, 2008: Bruins 4 (28) - Flyers 3 in OT

February 7, 2009: Flyers 4 - Bruins 3 (0 goals on 22 shots)

So his actual record against Boston is 3-3-1.
