Living in the East, I sometimes am stupid when it comes to players in the West, but isn't Wisniewski a career 5th-6th defenceman?
Pahlsson, for all that I hate him for beating the Sens in the finals, is an elite defensive forward...I personally would think that since Anaheim has no incentive to trade him, and this is clearly a Chicago driven deal; that Chicago would need to hand over some prospects to make it happen.
I, for one, like Wisniewski. I might be overestimating his trade value though. Pahlsson is a UFA at season's end and he has been battling a virus for the past 3 weeks or so.
When Jack Skille was recalled from Rockford on Friday the timing was curious. At least one source said Skille is a player being offered around the league by the Hawks in hopes of landing a center and defenseman before Wednesday's trade deadline.
It's believed the Hawks were talking to the Ducks about Chris Kunitz before Kunitz was traded to Pittsburgh on Thursday for defenseman Ryan Whitney. The Hawks offered Anaheim a defenseman that wasn't Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook or Brian Campbell.
It's possible the Hawks would consider moving James Wisniewski or Cam Barker in the right deal.
Anaheim center Sami Pahlsson and Tampa Bay center Jeff Halpern still are two players who might interest the Hawks. The problem with Pahlsson is he has been sidelined with mono.
trade one of the best defensive forward in league for 4-6 Dman
yeah we should do that

It's hard to move Pahlsson but the fact is that he's a UFA at season's end. The checking line hasn't been shutting down top lines like they have been able to do so well in year's past. The Ducks are pretty well stocked with defensive minded forwards (Carter, Marchant, Moen, Nieds, Wirtanen come to mind) and we need some quality back on the blueline (especially if Pronger and/or Niedermayer are moved). Wiz is solid and cheap.
you think some ducks fan can give a scouting report of Pahlsson please
just want to know where he stands..
In the 06-07 year he was the best defensive foward in the league, despite not winning the selke. Without him the Ducks don't win a cup that year. Pahlsson's great at faceoffs, strong as an ox, a great penalty killer and is capable of shutting down almost any player in the NHL. Offensively he is pretty limited but has shown he can be effective in a PP role in front of the net, and he tends to produce at a higher rate in the playoffs.

so you would rather keep marchant and rob niedermayer over pahlsson?
The best possible move the Hawks could make right now thats realistic is Tkachuk. However rumor has it the Blues are actually buyers at the deadline. If I'm the Blues I would surly start trading away aging vets for young talent.
Sure St Louis has a slim shot at taking the 8th spot but even then its slim and then they will have to face San Jose in the 1st round.

you like wish too much
That's the thing -- Pahlsson has MUCH more trade value than Marchant and Niedermayer. Marchant and Niedermayer most likely wouldn't be able to fetch much in a trade, whereas Pahlsson could bring back a valuable piece.

Being a Ducks fan, I think the value is there. Pahlsson is great, but defensive forwards usually don't fetch their real value. And Wisniewski is kinda underrated because of the great guys Chicago has on their defense. I think he'd be a good fit with the Ducks. It's not an easy choice because I think there is a chance we can resign Sammy if we keep him, but this offer really isn't bad.
wiz is a very good defenseman... to the point that i would be very saddened if he gets traded.. hes a great locker room guy.. good shot from the point.. skates very well.. sticks up for his teammates
finished a fight with jordan tootoo with a torn acl..
