Heika is saying Wilson may be ready (someone off the IR? You don't say...) so Sawada may be down for a while. Jackson doesn't want him up unless he's going to play, and honestly, aside from the first game, he's been fairly quiet. I like what I see out of him, but I think he's a next year guy more than a this year guy at this point.

Actually he struck me as just a guy-slow to accelerate, not a particularly ferious hitter- strikes me as AHL fodder as he does really nothing great. remember also he is not really young
He was good in the defensive zone. I only remember him having one or two mistakes in his own zone.
I agree with Starsdude about his hitting. I was so excited they called him up, but he wasn't that aggressive outside of the 1st game. It took Grossman some time before he started really hitting people, and Fistric too. Hopefully he just needs an adjustment period to the NHL. If hits aren’t’ in his game, he's just an average defensive forward.
Question is, does he get sent back on waivers if no one claims him? I'm 99% sure that he does, but this entire season has been one stupid surprise after another, so who knows?

He'll get claimed. The Rangers have already made cap room and Sather has come out and said he'll claim him.
I know Sather said he would, I just wonder if having Tortorella around changes that at all.
No. Sather made his comments after he hired Tortorella and allegedly Sather hired Tortorella with the explicit clause that he'd be adding Avery to the roster.
Besides, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if another team claims him before the Rangers.
Bell was placed on re-entry waivers and picked up by the Rangers. Just today the Rangers waived Bell, thus ensuring they've got enough cap space for Avery.
It's a forgone conclusion the Rangers will put in a claim for Avery. Whether he makes it that far or not is still in question.
Avery in Toronto . . . heh. Hasn't he previously ripped Toronto?
