Wiz is a #5 d-man at worst. He's young and cheap.

Like I said, Pahlsson is a UFA at season's end. He'll probably command a large raise and I doubt Murray is willing to give him more than two million per.

Good match or no?
I think the Ducks would take that. IMO, a mid rd pick and 2nd tier prospect could get you Pahlsson.

Here's a little video on Wiz when he was rehabbing back in November. Fun to watch... http://www.mouthpiecesports.com/blog...i-on-the-mend/

He's looked in the past few games like he's finally trusting his knee, playing solid and physical hockey, and not making errant off-timed passes.

Wiz is too valuable to the team to trade him unless some club wants to over pay.

If a 1st round pick was offered up for Wiz I would reject the trade unless it was a top 10.

The Hawks have no reason to just start trading away players right now...

Woah, that's a little extreme don't you think? You might be able to make the case that Wiz is worth a VERY late 1st or an early 2nd. But in this scenario the Hawks certainly aren't "trading away players". They would be adding a playoff proven shutdown center.

I dunno if I would give Wiz away for Pahlsson. If we're gonna trade Wiz, it better not just be for a rental. I'd also try and get a center with a little more offensive upside but I dunno how likely that is.

Value is irrelevant...

The Hawks dont need another 1st round pick at the expense of a valued roster player.

Of course from the outside looking in Tallon would be an epic idiot for turning down such a deal but in reality Tallon just giving up Wiz for a risk would be irresponsible and would make the team worse now.

How does trading Wiz for a 1st round pick help the Hawks now? Its not like the Hawks have a troubled farm system...

Now of course Wiz isnt worth a 1st but hes too valuable to the Hawks to just trade.

My point is Wiz is more valuable to the Hawks then a 1st round pick and anything other then that is irrelevant.

We cant even give Kontiola a roster spot but we need to draft another prospect?

We subtract a roster player and add a pick, thats not responsible even if a 1st is massive overpayment.

Sure we can recall Hajalmarsson but hes no where near a Wiz, Wiz actually has NHL experience which is extremely vital to this young team.

I don't doubt that. But, if he can net the Ducks a solid, young, and cheap D-man in a trade then I pull the trigger.

Well I originally was against trading Wiz for Pahlsson but Scotty Bowman and Joel Quenneville seem to really like him so that's good enough for me.

Edit: Good call sammyp!

Wow. This thread deserves a permanent sticky, lol. Great call!

Seriously, is there some sort of "Trade Board Hall of Fame", where proposals like this can be stored for future reference?

10 dollars that poster either:

A) Pretends this never happened and ignores the thread in an effort to avoid the situation

B) Tries to defend himself by claiming that Petri Kontiola suddenly makes this trade not only worth it but worthy of the Ducks adding in Stephenson and a draft pick as well.

We really need a subforum for the trade proposal Hall of Fame. We haven't had a great call like this in a while.
