Like what? I hear stuff like this but I haven't seen anything that isn't speculation, etc. Not saying right or wrong, but I've seen nothing factual about his problems in Florida or PHX for that matter.

I'd love Arnott, but I don't know what the asking price would be. And I want to keep our 1st rounder.

Dominic Moore? Why bother? He's not the kind of center we need.

EDIT: Glad to see MacKenzie indicated that Moore is not a top-six forward.

See, that might make more sense, although it worries me that PHX might want to part with him for cheap so soon after acquiring him.

I really want Jokinen, but Ill admit part of the reason is an irrational desire to believe it will be a repeat of the Bobby Smith acquisition in the 80s.

Clarification. What McKenzy said was more like..."Moore might be available altho he's not a top6 foward like what Montreal would need he could be an option."

My understanding from the many insiders comments I read and heard is that they are having big $ trouble.

My guess is that they wanna make the Financial sheet look good to a future owner.
Remember/know that when someone buys a team, he's buying the $ at the end of the line and NOT the players on the team.

A guy like Jim Basilie for example doesn't care whether Olli Jokinen or Craig Darby is the 1st line center of the team. What he wants to know is how much he will lose in the next 1-3 years before he can turn it out to profit and then, eventually to capital gain.

That was exactly George Gillet's bet by the way.

There are a few reasons why I don't buy the Jokinen Kool-Aid but the main reason being that Phoenix, as you point out, is looking at cutting salary. We are against our cap. How the hell do we make room for Jokinen's salary??? Let's not forget that we just picked up Schneider's salary which is more than Lang's.

People would forgive very easily if Briere came here (in fact it would be outright love). I would prefer Briere just cuz Jokinen is not a dependable scorer. Could work, could be epic fail. Then again, I just remembered Briere's contract. Never f'in mind. Are there any chances of us getting Gaborik? I do think the only reason we don't have Olli yet is cuz PHX IS actually asking too much (or perhaps PHX is waiting til the last second to see what he gets a la Shero). It served us very well to keep our prospects two seasons ago. Giving them up for him might be a big mistake and unnecessary. I'll take him if it is actually for cheap. Otherwise, what exactly is wrong with Lappy as our third center? He's been amazing this season. Tanguay and Lats will make a huge difference.

Moore isn't top 6 material he's just on the Leafs. Very overrated.
