Jay Bouwmeester any day of the week. He regularly plays 27+ minutes against top lines....Very solid defensively, and not doing bad on the offensive side, either. [33 points in Florida is pretty good]
Jay-Bo has that Lidstrom quality where you won't know what he's been doing until he's gone. Would the Panthers be in the hunt without Jay-Bo? I doubt it. Would the Caps be in the hunt without Green? Yes; maybe not division leaders, but they'd be a playoff team for sure. They won when he was injured and they won last year when he was just good and not great.
Boumeester has a special quality few defensemen possess and putting up double the points isn't enough to negate that.
Green is two years younger and both will be part of Canada's d-core internationally for years.
A team puts Jay-Bo on the ice when they're up a goal, down a goal, and tied late in a game. A team should put Green on the ice late in a game when they're down a goal only. Jay-Bo plays against and neutralizes top tier forwards, Mike Green would rather pretend to be a top tier forward.
They're 2 completely different players, one plays so offensively that he's like another forward on the ice, however he's not the best Defensive guy out there. Jay-Bo puts up huge TOI numbers and shuts down top lines, but will probably never put up the goal numbers Green is putting up
People seem to forget that Mike Green plays with a couple guys named Ovechkin, Semin and Backstrom. I'm not saying that he's not good, he has an absolutely booming shot, but his numbers are certainly effected by the offense he is in.
Bouwmeester is elite offensively and defensively, no comparison IMO.

MIke Green has a better plus minus, he has more points, more goals, who the hell in this day of age, not want to have a defencemen who has more points then games. Please explain. Mike Green is just getting better and better, Bouwmeester has yet to become the player he was suppose to be, he is stilll good. But I will take Mike Green easily.
