Guess he was potentially gone if they couldn't sign him before the deadline?

Good to get their man locked up, though.

This has to ensure that Harding may in fact be on the block.

Wouldn't see why they'd get rid of him. He's top-5 goalie, statistically, the past 3 years. Thats all I have to base on him, as I don't watch much of his games.

But even still, from what I've seen he's a very good goalie. You know Gaborik is gone after this season. Can't afford to lose Backstrom too.

Nice. They couldn't afford to let him go.

Now trade Harding to Toronto

I love Pierre LeBrun. ESPN will break just as many trades tomorrow as TSN.

I think DR is going to hold onto to both of them this deadline. A trade might come later but not this deadline

He's a good goalie, but I don't know if he's in Lundqvist and Luongo good.

He's being paid more than Brodeur, as well.

I would've thought 5M would be his number. Not that bad since it's only a million or so over what I think was fair value, though.

Good for them, now they can go in the summer focusing on other ways to improve the team instead of panicking about Backstrom.
