Im sure alot of teams are going to be asking about Harding now since Backstrom will be the number 1 for 4 more years...common Burke make the phone call

I would've thought 5M would be his number. Not that bad since it's only a million or so over what I think was fair value, though.
You also have to take into account:

1. WHEN was Broduer re-signed
2. The value of the goalie towards HIS team
3. If its a discount rate or not

I'd put him on par with Lundqvist from what I've seen, read of him.

Confirmed by TSN.

$6M per year. Not bad I guess. What's Minny's cap situation now, and can they afford Gaborik?

Marty has always been underpaid. He fired his only agent Gilles Lupien 14 years ago.

Henrik makes $6.875 million and Roberto gets $7 million.

Where was Minny getting a better goalie?Huet got $5.75 million per last summer and he is not as good as Backstrom.

Both team and player should be happy with that.

I wouldn't. I think he's a notch below.

I don't consider him a top 3 goalie like I do Lundqvist. Backstrom is somewhere in the top 10. In the Ryan Miller area. I'd like to see what he could do outside of Minnesota, frankly.

Gaborik does not want to be there anymore. He doesn't watch the Wild games. Just read the scores. Nice team player

Completely forgot about that.

In that case, I guess it is fair value for him as he's a much better tender than Huet is.

I think it's more of a case of "don't fix what ain't broken". Harding could be traded, however.

And Miller makes 6.25 starting next year, so I'd say this is pretty fair value for Bäckström.

Way to bounce back Nikke

Now that he is one of most respected goalies in the world. Some reporter might ask him what were his feeling when, about 10 years ago, he was left in to take all the ***** in 10 goal humiliation. And getting blamed of it as well

That episode has been nicely kept secret. Specially from Canadian and US followers.

Man, if Steve Tambellini and Bryan Murray aren't breaking down Doug Risebrough's door trying to get Josh Harding, they're far dumber than I thought (and I never thought very highly of them in the first place).

He's in the "Ryan Miller area" despite the fact that Backstrom has utterly dominated him in Save %/GAA over the last 3 seasons. Terrific deal for Minnesota.

Nice.

Ironically, I found out about this one by randomly browsing to HockeyBuzz on a lark. I think that's the first time I've actually gotten factual information from Eklund before others.

(Of course, that was entirely due to which websites I checked when, so no real props to him, but still. Wow! Landmark! )
