News Report: Eric Reitz waived (Per RDS)

Reitz has been waived per RDS:

http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/270394.html

Did the Dow just tank or something? Every team is waiving like its 1999.

If he went on IR he couldn't be waived after wards. I really liked this kid and wanted to keep him he was cheap hit and fought , I guess he was not a Torts guy

He looked REAL bad in his only game with Torts and was arguably responsible for the GTG. Like Voros, I think he's been identified as someone who isn't a "Torts guy".

He's lost to the team anyway with an injury, so why pay him?

Hmm. Yeah, I liked Reitz. Always welcome tough players. He probably will go unclaimed though, I would guess.

He wasn't a great defenseman. His positioning sucked and his conditioning was horrible. Potter could have done a better job.

Looks like Sather is going to do the ole traditional once a year conditional or late round pick for a 5th - 7th defensman or clearing space for something else.

Reitz grew on me very quickly with his time on the team but it seems to look like Kalinin is more of a Tortorella guy then Reitz.

Kalinin has 10x the talent Reitz has.

Kalinin will thrive under Torts. Expect his point production to increase. He also does have the vision to play on the PP.

Thank you. It's amazing how people undervalue Kalinin, but applaud Reitz for his few hits.

Kalinin by far is the better defenseman.

Kalinin has looked great lately. I like him a lot. And I actually hope we can re-sign both him and Mara if our kids aren't ready.

Kalinin at 2M is a very good value.

A solid 4/5 d-man making under 2M is a rare thing, so you won't see him getting any less.

It's possible that Reitz was waived so they can bring a dman up from Hartford.
