Prospect Update thread II

Post all info and discussion of Boston Bruins prospects here.

Except for Carl Soderberg, who is godly enough to have his own series of threads.

Kirk updates Colborne's progress/NEHJ

Terrific article by Kirk regarding the outstanding progress of #1 pick Joe Colborne. This young man is answering all the questions about his game and character in his first year at Denver.

I have been suggesting that there are too many posters throwing Colborne into trade rumors. After reading this article I'm convinced that the B's would make a huge mistake if they let him go.

Enjoy the article and discuss: http://www.hockeyjournal.com/Article.php?ArtID=999916

Great read on Colborne. If he's still Bruins property come tomorrow night, I think we could have a real player on our hands. And while Jeff from Maine thinks Boston will eat him alive if he's not a physical player, I think we've done well with Wheeler so far. but only time will tell.

Just to let everyone if you don't already, the mods removed most of the stickies to decrease the server load going into the deadline.

After the deadline it will be stickied again.

That was a really fantastic article on Colborne, can't wait to see how he continues to develop.

Glad you liked it. He's an impressive interview, as is Coach Gwozdecky.

My Kirk's Call prospects blog will have 1 feature per week and next up is Tuukka Rask.

Mikko Lehtonen is on fire he has 23 goals this season after only 8 all last year in Sweden. I hope he gets the call even though I don't think he will this season. Unless god forbid we start to get the injury bug.

BC-NU is on NESN right now.

Brock Bradford got his 22nd goal tonight...1-0 BC with about 6 minutes left in the 1st.

Bradford's really gotten progressively better over his college career.

I know the new NHL will certainly aid his chances, but what are the odds that Brock has a good NHL career? Probably a year at least in Providence, but it looks like he could really be a nice player in the NHL.

The goal was a beauty of a one-timer...stick up, took the pass from Kunes and aloha means goodbye!

I like Bradford- very small, but has always had the skill. Would've broken out last year if not for the injuries.

Don't know about your proposed timeline- could be a couple of years on the farm at least, plus the Bruins have such a deep prospect pool and there is no shortage of small, skill guys for sure. But, being a captain for Jerry York speaks volumes about Bradford's character and for a seventh-round pick, he's looking good.

Change in plan- in light of the trade of two of NEHJ's top-10 Bruins prospects, this week's Kirk's Call is my assessment/state of the prospects address on the overall impact.

Should hit the website tomorrow.

We return to our regularly scheduled Tuukka Rask feature next week...

Kirk any insight with respect to Soderberg, will he be here soon (hate to jinx the kid like I did Zino..lol)?

I kicked the tires a little bit and should have something soon. If timeliness becomes an issue, Soderberg could bump Tuukka again in my queue as Rask is a relatively well-known commodity.

Other profiles you can expect to see in the coming weeks: Mikko Lehtonen, Zach Hamill, Brock Bradford, Brad Marchand, Jeff Penner, etc. and even a "graduates" profile or three where I talk in-depth to B's draft picks who have moved on to the big club about their road to the NHL (Mark Stuart, Matt Hunwick, David Krejci for starters).

Feel free to PM me with any suggestions. I will also pay due diligence to New England-area prospects not necessarily with the Bruins like BU star Colin Wilson (Nashville), BC's Jimmy Hayes (Toronto), and others.

Any chance you could snag a temporary assignment for exercizes with NATO to get close to CS for a face-to-face?

I've seen BB play. He reminds me of another BC alum, Brian Gionta. Great skater, quick moves, deadly around the net. He might have a shot in today's free expression NHL.

Aside from the goal, BC was pretty brutal last night. Give credit to NU- they never gave up. Tied it with 25 seconds left and then won in OT by winning just about every battle to the loose pucks.

Thiessen was insane again- just stoned the Eagles at every turn to keep his team one goal down when BC could have blown it open.

Very impressive what Greg Cronin has done there.

Nice week so far for the guys in the Q thus far. Alain Goulet with a goal and an assist in Gatineau's 3-1 victory Tuesday and 2 assists in their 6-5 loss to Val'D'Or on Wednesday. Now with 13 goals, 15 assists, 28 points in 29 games, +22. Suave with a goal and 2 assists in the 6-5 win for Val'D'Or on Wed and a goal/assist Fri in their 6-3 victory.

While at the Division I New England Prep semifinal games tonight, I saw in the program that Mark Goggin was named to the Division I West All-New England Team.

met the Goggin boys this summer and their parents; sure seemed like a wonderful family- I thought Mark looked very good in Camp and will not shock me if he does great at Dartmouth and we see him in Providence and Boston someday. I'd say he has 'it'.
