I think he meant in the way of, if he were trading for strictly rentals, if Gillis is targeting Bouwmeester then he knows he's fairly confident of him being resigned with us.

Flyers have a greater cap issue though. Both teams would have difficulty signing Bouwmeester IMO. I don't think anything will come of it and the Panthers will try to go on a run in the playoffs to try to entice J-Bo to stay. If the team is improving and they offer him 6M (no state taxes) he and his agent will have to have a long talk.

The only way I can see the Canucks getting in on Bouwmeester is if there is a three way deal involving Philly, or more likely Boston. Boston likely cannot take on Bouw, but would probably be very interested in Ohlund. Philly can take on Bouw, but will need to dump one of Lupul or Hartnell in the deal.

If Washington wins the race for Morris, then I'd say it's a remote, remote possibility, if Boston gets him, I'd say likely forget it.

There is my swami post.

OHLUND SAID HE'D ONLY WAIVE HIS NTC IF THE TEAM ACQUIRING HIM WANTED HIM RESIGNED.

If Ohlund is traded, he will be resigned. For how much, i do not know.

Hence why ohlund being traded all of a sudden makes more sense for florida then people think.

I don't see how philly can get jaybo with there cap situation. Canucks are in a better position.

With Bouw's size, skating, durability and minutes played he covers more ice and influences the flow of the game as much as any player in the NHL IMO. If he keeps improving, look out.
He definitely has the potential to be a norris winner. but at the moment i take these dman before him.

Lidstrom
Pronger
Niedermayer
Green
Phaneuf
Rafalski
Boyle
Keith
Markov
Burns

I think his high end potential makes him look more valuable, but at the moment those dman make a bigger impact. And in a few years, who knows, the young ones like e.johnson, doughty etc might surpass him.

But one thing is for sure, is that he will be signed as a top 10 dman.

The more it's discussed, the more I think Ohlund/Raymond/1 for Bouwmeester makes a lot of sense for both teams.

Do you listen to the radio or watch tv at all?.

Florida already stated, the only way they would trade JAYBO if they get another player who can fit his spot without making them to much worse.

So YES he is available.

Didn't Buffalo only get eliminated from the playoffs on the second last day of the regular season?

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm sure you will) but I believe the reason Campbell was dealt wasn't because of being out of the playoffs, but more that Buffalo could not afford to lose him for nothing after the Briere and Drury fiascos in the previous summer, playoff battle or not.

I think lemaire screwed burns by putting him as a forward.
I take burns over bouwmeester any day of the week and twice on sunday.
Burns also has more grit and intensity imo.

rafalski might be on the way down, but atm hes better imo.

I'm with the people that are a bit sceptical about Vancouver and Florida not being good enough partners for this deal.

From Florida's side, they'd want a JayBo replacement, a solid prospect and a first at the least to warrant a trade. From Vancouver's side, we'd be risking quite a lot of secured assets for a possible UFA.

I figure it's something like this: Gillis is willing to put one solid secured asset on the table for JBo, be it a 1st or a defenseman named Edler or Bieksa - not both. Ohlund is on the other hand a commodity he could part with considering his statements. I think either one of these packages could happen:

Ohlund + Raymond + 1st (most easy to root for from Nucks POV)
Ohlund + Grabner + 1st (still doable)
Bieksa/Edler + Raymond + something minor (a bit unpleasant already)
Bieksa/Edler + Grabner (now we're pushing it)
Anything more expensive than that, I'd see Gillis turn away.

Agreed 100%.

If there is talks....i'd bet FLA asked for Bieksa/Edler...

Vancouver said sorry no.

Fla thinks about Ohlund....Ohlund makes that comment about being traded ONLY ONCE...and how he'd like to resign with whatever team trades for him.... FLA thinks..hey Ohlund actually sounded enthusiastic about moving teams.

I dont know if this deal will go down...but it has potential...
Ohlund will probably finish his career on another 3 year deal. Raymond is a nice young player..and a 1st is sexy too.

I think it makes sense for both teams.....the fact that there isnt many teams out there with the cap space to accommodate Boumeester now and next year makes it a bit harder to trade him.

Philly could probably put together a more tempting package value wise. BUT, Fla would probably want a dman coming back and i dont think philly has one (talented enough) to spare. PLUS FLA would not want to meet Philly in the playoffs with Bouwmeester in their lineup.

Hes top 5......Lidstrom, Chara, Pronger, Niedermeyer, Bouwmeester.

I'd take him over Phaneuf, Weber, Green, Markov, Regehr, Boyle, Kaberle, Timonen, etc.
