I agree he not the playoff type of guy but its not like there are alot of option... we don't know habs may not even make the playoff in a year or two, we need a #3 center really bad if we want to go far in the playoff.

Nylander at $4.9M for the next 2 or 3 years is ludicrous and you don't make that kind of decision because you feel there aren't a lot of options... we don't need nylander haha

From what I see, he is even a worst floater than Kovalev.

All over the league you see GMs trying to get rid of stupid huge contracts they gave themselves and now regret. Spezza is similar. Man am I happy that Gainey never overpaid a player.

Come to think of it, all of our players (with a few exceptions) are worth their pay. Best test - should we put any of our players on waivers / on sale - he will immediately get taken.

Aren't we good ?

What about Laraque? At the beginning, I thought it is a fair contract. Now, I feel we overpaying him.

Honestly, am I the only person who thinks Hamrlik is overpaid at 5.5M a season? With a no-trade clause?

Just think about a test - we put him on waivers - Do you think there would be takers for him ?

I personally think there would.

You know are overpaying a player if, should you put him on waivers no one would take him.

I am pretty certain nobody will claim him on the way down but someone will claim him on the way up (we will be resposible for 1/2 of his salary).

Why would Gainey do anything that would help a Conference rival especially in terms of salary cap relief. Montreal needs all the money they can get to sign their own UFA's this summer.

If BG did this, he should be fired on the spot.

To add to this situation: Tom Poti was pulled from the pre-game warm-up and is a healthy scratch for Washington tonight.

He has been one of their best d-men according to their fans, so seems like an odd move. Maybe they don't have a taker for Nylander after all?

Or is it...
Poti + Nylander for Hamrlik + Dandenault

If this happens, I quit. There are so many things WRONG with a Nylander acquisition (and nothing to do with the guy's talent), that I dont enough time to list all of them.

I will seriously quit.

was the only way to get him on our team, and for the most part, he has bolstered our defence, without him, wed be in much much worse shape

NO NO NO my friend, how can you quit to be a Habs fan? Once a Habs fan, always a Habs fan no matter what happen. We will find a way to get Gainey head if this happen.

He's probably getting a million more than he should, but when he is out of the lineup our defense looks awful.

Poti is a downgrade from Hamrlik...if Bob does that, I'll seriously question his GM abilities.

Damn, if that happens, we better be getting something else from Washington for taking on his contract. I call BS on this one.
