God, this is like the "Belfour to sign with the Wings" story, where "... and I hear he'll sign with the Wings tomorrow" went for about 3 weeks straight - and then like 3 weeks later, Belfour signed with Florida.

Are you implying Guerin is going to sign with Florida :sacrasm:

I can't believe people are still talking about Bill "I lost my game 5 years ago" Guerin. Watch, Isles get a 3rd rounder and over 1000 comments were essentially made about a 3rd rounder. It is going to be the most legendary third rounder in the history of hockey. Who ever the Isles take will have more pressure on him to succeed by the HF community than who ever the Isles take with their lottery pick.

The last article I read an hour ago said the trade might have fallen through completely. It'd be an epic failure for the Isles, but what else is new?

He'll probably be traded no matter what, but he won't fetch as much as previously speculated.

When the real trades start happening, nobody will care about Guerin anymore... except maybe the fanbase of the team he goes to, if the trade actually does happen.

so guerin isnt traded if the other gm is asking for too much or offering too little, its an "epic failure" ( catch phrase of the month that all the knuckleheads use ) for the islanders? just for ***** and giggles....lets say the original deal was guerin for gaborik heads up. garth says ok to that and then all the sudden it turns into guerin and okposo for gaborik. thats a "catch phrase of the month" ?

A little OT, but doesn't Guerin look kind of like actor Christopher McDonald (the guy who played Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore)?

Sillie is injured.

But what did the Islanders do that looks silly? I don't think they even said any thing. The only thing that happened with the Islanders is that there rumor came out when nobody had any thing else to talk about. Other people made a big deal out of it just because they wanted to talk trades but that isn't them and I'm just being fair saying so.

You are ridiculous, dude. All they did was pull him from the lineup to prevent any freak injury that might spoil a potential trade. All this debacle up to now is up to over-zealous media and people like yourselves speculating on something pretty innocuous.

Not to mention there were like 10 other players healthy-scratched last night. So I guess if Tom Poti isn't moved today it's a hilarious 'Epic Fail' for the caps.

Stop trying to spin everything into another wacky 'LOL Islanders!' moment. It's a tired gag and you've all really stretched it to the limit.

Uh oh, it's been 15 hours since Toronto has scratched Dominic Moore and Nik Antropov and they've yet to trade them!!!.... OMG.... the sky is falling, the sky is falling.

What would happen if he didnt get traded. Would he just show up next game for NYI and say im back and play? That would be weird for a player.

I think Gordon said he would play if he wasn't traded. I can't imagine why he wouldn't be traded though. Veteran UFA, surely worth something to a playoff team... I mean, the original deal obviously isn't there anymore, but now we're two hours away from the actual deadline and the fact the Islander's haven't moved anyone is surprising to me.

If you want to see epic failure you only have to go back so far as to the Lightning's last offseason.

Guerin will be traded, it's only a matter of time.

He'd play, but as for signing next year, not likely. At least not if Gordon is still coach.

LeBrun (1:11 p.m. ET): Just heard from inside the Panthers' war room and they're still no closer to making a call on Bouwmeester. We're told Vancouver and Philadelphia charging hard on Bouwmeester. Also on Bill Guerin, we're told the original deal that began Saturday is now "dead" and Isles GM Garth Snow is working on Plan B.
