Last yr it was slow up to the deadline and even the day before there was only a couple of deals plus the past 4-5 yrs there has been 25 trades and such but who knows how many trades there will be...

Actually there was only 1 trade in the 5 days prior to deadline day last year. So we're already ahead of that pace!
All kidding aside, tight caps and limited sellers will reduce trading slightly this season...I'm guessing 15-18 trades tomorrow...

Everybody says this every year. And I have yet to see a real snoozefest yet, there's usually a lot of moves and a couple big moves every deadline.

I don't expect this one to be any different.

With virtually no activity yet, all of us deadline freaks have to consider it boring. But, as many others have pointed out, the bulk of the activity takes place on the final day. Some of the inactivity may be the result of GMS like Bob Murray (1) deciding whether he's a buyer or seller and (2) if he is selling, say, Pronger, he'd like to create as much competition for him as possible. Obviously, the salary cap has cut down on a lot of potential activity.

It's usually like this, the odd trade here and there untill deadline day and then a flurry of trades happen as time winds down. It's now or never to make a trade, and when a rival makes a move to improve their club for the post-season a GM will feel inclined to make a move to counter it.

It might be a bit slower then previous seasons but I doubt it'll be boring. At least for Toronto, last year was a downer, we moved Belak, Gill and Kilger when we were hoping for Sundin, Kaberle, Kubina, and Tucker to bring us kings ransoms. This year we might not trade Kabs or Kubina but we're pretty sure we'll do better then a few mid round picks.

i don't know what to expect tomorrow...a flurry of activity, or a few deals leaving us all thinking, "that was it?".

There will be moves.

Many people get scared every year that there will be no trades.

The trades and moves made within the last week -- it's been busier this year than last year.

The amount of waiver moves should have been the inkling that tomorrow, between 12-1 EST, it will get wild and furious in here. All these teams need these players to clear by noon tomorrow so they can dive into the fray. Just don't be surprised by a slow morning. Things really don't get hot until 11, if not later.

Waiting until the last hour means that other contenders won't have time to make a reactionary move. It's like a game of cards and everyone will show their hands a couple hrs before 3pm tommorrow.

Lots of NTC'S
Lots of teams still in the playoff hunt
Lots of players cant be moved because teams cant fit them under the cap

those are 3 big reasons why there is no movement so far

I think that with the economy and so many teams still in the playoff race that there will be very few trades today. (I'm thinking 12)

Again, there is more movement this year than last year. Your basis for this is totally unfounded.

I think this trade deadline has potential to be very entertaining. Especially with guys like Lecavlier mentioned in the past and and now more recently St. Loius. There are a few others, but I kind of think this year could be a dud. Not like last years dead line and the year before.

ummm

If they are traded they are off the books anyway?

Parity ='s lotsa deals

The NHL has parity, just need to wait for the first shoe to drop as in past years

According to TSN (Talked about it about 2 minutes ago on their deadline show), since we're near the end of the season, a Team with a $1 million cap can take on a salary worth about $4.5 Million...So

I pretty much expected not that much happening this trade deadline due to the parity in the Western Conference. While there may be a few buyers, there aren't that many sellers.

Just a hint...When you hear some buzzingish noise when a panel guy is talking, its their Blackberry, and means that they are receiving a text/phone call (possibly for a trade)..Blackberry's use a radio signal, and when someone with one receives something it makes a noise...Be aware

From the Leafs:
Antropov
Ponikarovsky
Moore
Van Ryn
Mayers
Kaberle
Kubina

All possible players to be moved today. Yes, with Pronger off the market and the questionable Bouwmeester situation, offers will still come in for Kaberle.

In a sense he is. But if Anaheim gets an offer you can't refuse, they wont. Pronger could still be traded today.
