Honestly, I think that issue stemmed a lot from the absence of Luongo, and a collapse in confidence. When Bieksa and Edler are on their games they move the puck well - as do Ohlund and Salo. Even Mitchell and O'Brien can make an adequate first pass. With the recent offensive re-awakening of Bieksa and Edler the Canucks need for an 'offensive' defenseman is really becoming overrated. Though I agree adding a guy like Bouwmeester in the off-season as an UFA would really establish the blueline for the foreseeable future.

hope your right.. Bieksa and Edler have been very impresive lately, but not so sure they can keep it up through the playoffs. We will see.

the canucks don't have any they can move. Raymond's value is marginal for any team looking for immediate impact - he doesn't really bring any immediate impact at all!

Another poster brought this up on the canucks board and it could make sense - this could just be Gillis' way of just making sure JBo knows the canucks are interested so when FA begins they have an offer that's heard before JBo signs with another team whether he's traded at the deadline or his rights traded in June.

IMO for Florida to give up JBo to Vancouver, Kesler would have to be going the other way... he's the type of young impact forward that can contribute now and still has future upside, that they'd be looking for. Personally, I don't think any team gives up such assets for a rental, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if that's Florida's price.
I think your way off base jbo has basically said he doesn't want to play in florida--What gm who is playoff bound is going give a real young top 6 fwd under contract for a guy who is a rental.

You need to use the Campbell thing as precident. He's still a UFA and uncertain to sign, his value doesn't just shoot up because he might sign in the area in the offseason, possibly.

O'Brien or Ohlund (pending Florida wants to sign him), Raymond, 1st. Florida gets 2 roster players and a 1st for a UFA.

Here's some ridiculous wishful thinking, does J-Bo have a NTC? And if so, didn't he say he definitely wanted to go to a Western Canadian team? So if he knows that the Canucks are interested, couldn't he refuse to waive his NTC for the Flyers so that he gets to go where he wants? I know I'm being stupid right now, but holy crap.. Bouwmeester Bouwmeester Bouwmeester.

If it involves giving up either of Bieksa or Edler or our 1st, I'm not so sure I would be all in favor of this deal especially if we aren't able to sign Bouw in the summer.

Wasnt it rumoured that the list of 10 teams given by Kaberle were all in the east?

Throwing O'Brien's name out there for Bouwmeester shows that you have no clue what you're talking about.

The Canucks could very well go into next season with virtually the same line-up minus Ohlund.

Only Kypreos, but he was just talking about the Canucks and JayBo and he said if they don't get him now, they certainly will July 1st. Take it with a grain of salt as Kypreos has been wrong in the past(stated Sundin wouldn't sign with the Canucks), but it leads credence to the supposed desire Gillis has to get Bouwmeester.

If Ohlund agree's to a trade he will definitely sign a contract.

Ohlund 1st Raymond Sauve Conditional 1st.

Let me make a comparison for you. Let's pretend it's 2004 again. There were once posts like this:
