The Devils have 3 less goals then Philly and 1 more then the Pens, talk about 2 teams that are steam rolling the opposition with their offense... WATSON

Paul Martin is the best defenseman in the Atlantic division.
Colin White has a ton of playoff experience, won 2 Cups, and reached 3 finals.
Bryce Salvador was usually on the first pairing in St. Louis with either Pronger or Brewer.
Havelid was the #1 defenseman in Atlanta (granted, not saying much).
Johnny Oduya is a solid two-way defenseman who usually plays with Martin on the top pairing of one of the best defenses (statistically) in the league.

don't get me wrong, it's nice that Havelid was #1 in atlanta and White was along for the ride on 2-cup winning teams and that Paul Martin is better than any d-men on Pit, Phi (Timonen?), NYI (Streit?), NYR.

salvador was a steal for the devs last year imo...white has experience which i guess counts for something but hes average at best imo...oduya is okay although everytime i see him he is a different player(if that makes sense)...and havelid from what i remember is pretty solid and should help the devils alot
but yes the devils have a solid d core, but what helps them is their system, and their forwards buying into it...especially guys like parise elias gionta etc...if you can get your forwards to play really good d,which the devils forwards always do, you will have a good team...which the devils always do

This is the point right here, devil's fans, it's not Oduja or Peter Martin or any of these other minions - it used to be Ken Danyko out there and the D was even better than it is today.
Timonen and Gonchar are really the only competition for best dman in the Atlantic. I'll take Martin, though. He's elite defensively (rated one of the 10 best defensive defensemen in the league recently by THN) and is the key to the Devils' transition game (when he's been injured this year, they can't get out of their own zone). He isn't as good offensively as either guy (though he's the #1 option on the Devil's PP), but I'll take his overall game.

I disagree. I think he'd be ecstatic to waive his NTC to join the Wings.
And how are the Wings going to fit him in under the cap? [Answer: they can't - unless they want to deal off a key player ... which Holland is on record as saying (1) he won't do unless it clearly improves his team, and (2) he will not be trading for a goalie.]
As much **** Eklund says, he has some sources on the flyers, however its always BS when it comes to the devils.

Timonen is so under-rated. The guy shut down Ovechkin last year. I'm not even a Flyers fan, so you can't accuse me of homerism.
I know playoffs mean more then the regular season for obvious reasons.However i think ovechkin has less goals vs the devils in the last two years then he does vs the flyers.
