Appears that you've just arrived at this thread.

Ohlund has openly stated that if he is to be traded, he would only waive his NTC to go to a team that would resign him, and the estimate is approximately 4-5 million for a few years. He basically doesn't want to move twice for the sake of his family. So if Florida trades for him and wants him, they've got him staying, basically.

so Ohlund is willing to sigh to any team that he's traded to as long as they intend to sign him?

that sort of seems like he only cares about the financial security and I never got that impression from him

He also has a NTC, so he won't take a trade to anyone who's not signing him. He's not moving his family for 6 months to be a rental.

Ohlund's a big family guy and he doesn't want to put a whole lot of stress on his family, especially because his kid has a condition or something. It's not so much a matter of financial security as it is just not moving.

I'm going to officially predict:

To Fla: Alex Edler, Michael Grabner, Mason Raymond, 1st, 3rd

To Van: Jay Bouwmeester and Nathan Horton

or just

O'Brien, Raymond, Sauve/Ellington, 1st for Bouwmeester

With his NTC, he controls where he's dealt to.

He just doesn't want to be a rental. He'd only waive his NTC to go to a team he'd want to sign with in the first place. It's not like he doesn't care where he plays.

Hearing out of Boston (Edit: Sportsnet also just brought it up) that Boston is going after Ohlund agressively and this may hinge on the Bouwmeester talk.

I believe that the Canucks can basically pickup a $5.5M contract. Dropping O'Brien, Raymond, and Pyatt (replaced by Horton, Bouwmeester, and Rypien) would free up about $3.5M of salary space which means the Canucks could add $9M worth of contracts.

Horton is $4M, Bouwmeester is $4.8M.

Now I don't think there is anyway Florida would agree to the proposed deals unless they a) want to save money, and b) are giving up on re-signing Bouwmeester.

WTF would the Panthers want with O'Brien? He'd be by far the worst defenseman on our team.

The first trade is not going to include Horton. Whey would an offensively challenged team trade their best goal scorer?

Oh, in case you haven't seen it in all of my other posts regarding a potential Vancouver trade:

NO RAYMOND! Vancouver fans admit he's been horrible yet they try to throw them into a trade as if he has value.

He's not horrible he just doesn't fit with the Canucks right now because there isn't really anybody who can match his speed to play with him. He is still a good young player, its only his second year. I think alot of Canucks fans are hard on him because you see those flashes of brilliance every once in a while and you start to expect that more. He is still young he can improve if coached properly I think.

McKenzie just stated that the offer of;

Mason Raymond, Kevin Bieska, and a 1st has NOT be forwarded to Florida.

However, McKenzie said that if the deal was on the table, Florida would accept.

Bieksa and a 1st in a deep draft year is a really, really high price to pay for a rental player.

I love it when a team's fans get uppity like this and make definitive statements about who a team will and won't take. You can always tell who plays waaayyyyy too much fantasy hockey.

I would be shocked if Bieksa was traded. Seems like exactly the kind of player Gillis likes.

Bieksa for a UFA Bouwmeester would be to high a price to pay unless the Canucks were confident that Bouwmeester would sign.
Having said that I would think that Florida being a playoff team would want Bieksa in a deal for Bouwmeester, that would mean there would need to be either more involved or Vancouver would need to agree to a contract atleast in principal with Bouwmeester prior to the trade.

As do I. He is fast becoming the core man in our defence.

I agree but Florida would want to replace Bouwmeester for their run, Edler is not going to be traded so that leaves Bieksa. If Vancouver gets Bouwmeester than Bieksa becomes somewhat expendable, especially next year when Vancouver hopefully resigns Bouwmeester(like I said I see no way Vancouver making a trade for him if their not confident in resigning him or agree to a deal in principal)
