It's nothing personnal against Bouwmeester, as he is obviously a very good d-man but he won't fetch more than Kaberle. He has 0 playoff experience, no matter how good you are, that will play against Florida. Nobody wants a rental with 0 playoff experience. That drives his value down the toilet. Expect to be disappointed if he gets traded.

You'll be lucky to get more than just a 1st rd pick for him.

He will probably fetch a 1st rd and a solid prospect(a player that would be similar to Habs' Kyle Chipchura)

You won't get more.

True, but since they were both linked to Boston, I won't shed any tears over it.

I'm glad Kaberle and Pronger aren't moving since we weren't in on any of them.

Kaberle could still very well move as he is not a rental.

But it is highly unlikely

I don't see why they'd trade Pronger anyway. Wait until next season's trade deadline.

its pretty clear Murary was asking for the moon and wanted to cut payroll

He wanted 2 near roster players, a #1 pick, and a good prospect.

My belief is he got offered Bergeron, stuart, colburne and a 1st but he didn't want that much salary coming back.

The picks ended up becoming as follows:

Doug Weight

1st Round 2006 - Matt Corrente (New Jersey, traded from St. Louis)
4th Round 2006 - Ryan Turek
4th Round 2007 - Travis Erstad

Mark Recchi

2nd Round 2007 - Keven Veilleux

Really, the picks/prospects are the only losses; the players going back in these trades were hardly anything for Rutherford to cry in his beer over. For Weight, Kahnberg and Rajamaki have yet to play an NHL game, and probably never will. Boulerice and Zigomanis both lasted only lasted one season in St. Louis.

For Recchi, Nordgren and Kolanos were both failed prospects; Kolanos going back quite a few years because of concussions and other injuries. I remember him from his short stint in Detroit one year later, and he was basically exiled from the team because of his poor attitude. He is playing in Minnesota now, but I highly doubt he ever becomes a full-time NHL player. Nordgren, on the other hand, just wasn't very good.

It's really funny how they got these two guys for so little. The players that went in return had virtually no impacts for their teams (Zigomanis would be the only one to really develop into something decent, but that wasn't in St. Louis). Depending on whether or not these prospects develop (Corrente especially) will determine the future winner of the trade, but right now, it's definitly Carolina.
blues took that first rounder.. and traded up with NJ... and drafted Patrik Berglund.. win win if you ask me.

Supposedly, the Ducks wanted Alzner, Carlson and Varlamov plus.

I realize Pronger's good and all, but that's borderline ridiculous. Even if it is a starting point.
