I'm alright with this trade. He's a UFA at the end of the year and with Satans contract off the books, this is an upgrade...pending we didn't give anything huge

I wonder if part of the package for Pittsburgh trading for Guerin is that they have to take Satan. All that being said I think Guerin will be a perfect fit for Crosby, don't see him working as well with Malkin though

Billy Guerin's first words when he found out:

"FINALLY!"

Good luck with Dollar Bill, Pens.
Guerin could be rejuvenated alongside Crosby. He did pretty well alongside Weight this year.

I think that Guerin's playoff "problems" are overblown because of his bust in 2007. But at the same time, he looked like his tank was empty with the Isles.

Seeing as the Penguins have found their groove, are in 8th place, 3pts out of 5th..Where else would they be going?

Shero is such an ass. I guess he got the first liner he wanted for Crosby with Kunitz and Guerin...

What did we give up?

When the Guerin rumors started I suggested a second rounder and a salary dump (Gill/Eaton). It better not be more than that.

That was the company line when the Pens acquired two other Isles' castoffs, Fedotenko and Satan. Didn't quite work out so well.

No *******. However, adding a player that Toronto gave up on, Chicago gave up on, and the non-playoff showing forward sure in the hell wasn't.

Bill Guerin for a 5th round pick.
Pittsburgh makes playoffs its a 4th round pick.
If they win a round its a 3rd round pick.

Thats a great deal.

Guerin for 5th round conditional pick.

becomes a 4th if Penguins make playoffs, and a 3rd if they win a round.

interesting.

Not really. He's a God-awful playoff performer.

50 points in 105 games?

Eesh.

Deal is for a 5th round pick.

4th if they make playoffs.
3rd if they win a round.

3rd round max.
