I really, really like Scottie. I think Carcillo for Scottie is a lateral move at best. To be fair to Carcillo, I think he might be a little bit of a better goalscorer than he's shown this year, his shooting percentage is like 3.2% after being 12% last year.
I guess Carcillo gives us some snarl in our top-9 too and we get probably 1 mill in cap space for next year.
So Upshall for Carcillo I can at least live with although I don't like it much. The fact that the 2nd is in there though kills me.
I don't want to say it's a horrible move, but it's pretty bad. I can see the rationale for it, but I don't agree with it at all.
The McLaren one isn't bad, he'll be in the AHL, but it gives us depth.
This was such a stupid trade, I can't help but be disgusted. Seriously, Upshall AND a 2nd for a 4th line goon? What the hell was Holmgren thinking? He's not even going to play in the playoffs, is he?
*sigh* Sometimes the best move is no move at all. Upshall-Giroux-Briere would have been a nice line to watch.
I liked Upshall, but I think we're going to like Carcillo even more. I think all things considered, Carcillo is a better player cap-wise, I didn't think Scottie was coming back next season. The part that pisses me off is the 2nd rounder. That means that the Flyers don't have a 2nd round pick until I'm a freshman in college.
As for McLaren, not exaggerating, I'd rather have that 6th round pick to use it on some wild card flashy Swede.
Hmm... I love the deal, and I also can't wait to see the Numbers Carcillo puts up now that he has real playmakers and goal scorers on the team. I don't like the 2nd rounder right now, but if he plays anything like he did last year and at some points this year, and even does better which I think he will in our system it might not even matter. He is definitely one of my favorite players in the league that I had wished was on our team.

I agree pretty much with what you said. The second rounder sucks, but it is a 2011 pick. Gives us time to make up for it. A lot of people are going to be upset tho. Upshall was a fan favorite, altho nothing more than a fast 3rd liner. Carcillo will be loved too, tho, once Flyer fans see him play regularly.

My issue is more that while we're certainly a young team and have some nice young players, we are giving away 2nds and 3rds and 4ths like free popcorn.
I mean, you might not get a good player, but barring a fairly unlikely miracle, the Flyers cupboard is going to be pretty bare in a couple years.

He's no goon. He fights a lot, but he can actually play hockey. You'll see.
So.. who plays on the 3rd line with Briere and Giroux now... please dont say Car.. That wont work at all.. Then Asham? please.. I say they try Powe or even Ross.
Ross is small but the kid can play.
Ross-Briere-Giroux. Small as hell, but fast as shyt

It'll be Carcillo to be honest with you. I'm split on that cause I'm not sure how Carcillo is at passing/scoring, but at least he should stop people if anyone wants to mess with Danny.
I really don't like this trade. Why do we need the league leader in penalty minutes? I'm pretty sure we've got penalty minutes pretty well covered already. I haven't watched Carcillo play too much but I think Upshall is the better player which makes the 2nd rounder really kill me since it feels like we are giving them something extra even though we got worse.
