I believe if the Flyers wish to use him, McLaren must clear recall waivers.

How would McLaren fit under the cap if they did decide to bring him up?

They just have to wait until the last few days of the season.

I am happy for Kyle. He was a great Shark and deserved a chance at the NHL. If he is fully healthy he will be a force come playoff time.

Does he still have to clear recall waivers if they bring him up in the playoffs?? I doubt anyone would take him anyways unless they wanted to hurt philly at that point in time but im just wondering.

McLaren will stay in the minors until the playoffs, he was an insurance pickup.

Not bad.

a hip check that usually misses the opponent and hit a teammate in the process.

Happy for him though as he didn't complain or anything. He acted like a professional and I wish him the best.

There are still recall waivers in the playoffs. We asked this question about Gauthier. The only difference is that if someone claims McLaren, they can't use him in the playoffs, and we incur no cap hit.

Flyers nullify the trade. McLaren failed his physical.

Weird that it says the trade was nullified but goes on to say that McLaren will be sent to the Philly Phantoms at the end. I also didn't realize that he had played in only 17 games this season with Woosta.

I am assuming it should say "was expected to be sent to the Phantoms," unless something really weird happened, like the Flyers get the 6th rounder back, but San Jose loaned McLaren from Worcester to the Phantoms or something.

I'm thinking maybe they just loaned him to the Phantoms. If that is the case, who pays his salary?
