This deal weakens Hawks!

Our d is weaker with Wisniewski gone and Pahlsson centering our 3rd line is a deep drop off offensively.

Plus he isn't the same player he was 2 yrs ago and will be a UFA after year.

Ducks win this deal!

Tallon somehow managed to mortgage not only the future, but also the present.

Honestly first glance I was pissed...

The hawks needed another center, but one who can contribute a bit offensively as well. It seems Tallon panicked after losing out on Vermette and Moore.

But the more I think about it...

It would be tough to keep Wiz after this season and this seems like a vote of confidence for Cam Barker who was in a million rumours to be out today. This also brings in some playoff experience and checking forward to really lead our third line against the other teams top clubs... I just dont like how our team matches up against Vancouver who we'll see in the first round.

I agree Pahlsson was a big part of the ducks run but it also helped that he was part of a great unit with Moen-Pahlsson-R.Nieds in Chicago he'll probably be with Eager and Burish unless Coach Q completely blows up the lines...

There are only 2 options until Sharp gets healthy. He will either take over Fraser's slot and play with Eager and Burish or he will play with Versteeg and Byfuglien.

The Byfuglien-Versteeg line wont work because his lack of offensive talent would hurt there production and thus turn us into a 2 line team. So how will or playoff lines look?

Sharp-Toews-Kane
Ladd-Bolland-Havlat
Brouwer-Versteeg-Byfuglien
Eager-Pahlsson-Burish

Those actually dont look too bad for playoff lines but i still dont buy Versteeg as a C

Coach Q got his guy by the sounds of it.

"Our coaching staff was hugely in favor of this deal," Tallon said. "Joel has coached against him in many playoff series and playoff games and is very confident in his abilities and what he can do as far as matchups and playing against the other team's top lines."

Nobody beats the Wiz...

But I do like what Anaheim did today. Got some good younger depth without huge tweaking.

This worries me! He better not breakup the Ladd-Bolland-Havlat line!

I swear to god he better not!

Yeah, something about how everyone wanted to stay but they couldn't pass up the chance to test the open market.

What're the conditions on the pick?

It looks like the Hawks are looking to put together a pure shutdown line to try and get the current shutdown line (Havolladd) some better matchups.

If Hjalmarsson is really ready to step up, it's not that bad of a deal.

As far as Anaheim goes, you guys will love Wiz. Kontiola is sort of a wild card but he's a quite talented playmaker who's pretty good in all three zones. He should be about ready to step in right now if you guys have a slot for him.

Can any Ducks fans give me a scouting report on Logan Stephenson? Does he have claws or a healing factor?

Called it.

I love Wiz and I'm excited to see him in a Ducks jersey on Friday night. Hawks fans will be thrilled with this trade if Sami returns to form. He's a hero to Ducks fans. We wouldn't have won the cup without him and he's nicknamed "God" by fans in Anaheim.

Any word on where Kontiola goes? He's not listed on the Iowa Chops' roster, despite them updating their roster with the Bodie recall and Miller and Mikelsson being sent down. He's also not listed on the Ducks' roster.

I was wondering that myself...OCregister doesn't mention him playing in the game on Friday either.

He's probably saying goodbye to all the great friends he made in Rockford.

A healthy Pahlsson gives the Hawks a great equalizer vs Thornton should they meet, Thornton has as much trouble with Sami as anyone, it sucks to see him go but it was the right time I suppose

I think this is a great deal for the hawks. Pahlsson will add play-off experience, smarts and grit and I think he will help them reach the second or the third round and that sort of play-off run will catalyst the young hawks development a lot!

Sami isn´t the same player like he was 2 years ago so good return for the Ducks. Wiz and his gritty game plus Kontiola has some potential. Though Sami can turn back to the player like he was couple of years ago but we don´t know that. Still good deal for both teams

I'm not sure what the exact terms are, but Tallon did mention it was based on Chicago's performance the rest of the way.

Can someone change the thread title? The conditional pick is from Anaheim to Chicago, not the other way around.

I don't like this trade considering how far Sami's play has dropped since winning the Cup and the fact that we gave up 2 RFAs and a pick for 1 UFA.

Wiz is a fan favorite and adds a lot to a 3rd pairing. Even coming off serious offseason surgery he is on pace to outscore Sami this season and I think next year Kontiola might too. Wiz hits, fights, blocks shots, plays solidly at both ends and has his own clothing line ().

Tallon took a major gamble here IMO. Sami's value was probably at an all time low, as were Kontiola's and Wisniewski's, so I think this move will look pretty bad for us 1-2 years in the future. It's not as if Wiz or Konti were up for big raises this summer.
