As mentioned, it depends who we sign. I figure we might be able to re-sign 4 of Koivu, Kovalev, Tanguay, Lang, Komisarek, Schneider which will leave us little room to breathe, pending the exact cap level. Personally, if we can, I'd re-up Koivu, Komi, Schneider and one of Lang/Tanguay pending biggest positioinal need. That would make cheap young players very useful.

I think Stewart and Chipchura will have 4th line / spare duty up front and we could see O'B and Weber battle for 6/7th spot on D if we bring back both big UFA Dmen.

I see others like White, Maxwell, Carle providing injury cover and moving between Montreal and Hamilton as needed due to them not needing to go through waivers. If extra cover is needed then the likes of Desharnais, Trotter, Subban, etc are around if needed.

Two defenseman and two wingers. That's about it. Better luck in 2010-11 season.

The ones who have the best shot are definitely Weber, Stewart, O'Byrne and Emelin if he comes over as it's been said.

I think we're surely gonna see Weber up for at least a part of the season if not all of it, and I think O'Byrne will definitely make it. For the others, it's a wash.

I think the year after is gonna be even more eventful in terms of prospects making it. We'll have Subban, McDo, Fisher (?) and possibly guys like Conboy, Quailer and Kristo making a run at the team.

Kristo is currently in High school and imo is a long ways away. I would be shocked if he spent only 1 year in the NCAA, let along being anything close to being NHL ready. My guess would be more like 5 years from now, he needs to get a lot stronger and mature his game. I would think he'll spend 2 or more years at the NCAA level at least and then a couple seasons in the AHL. He's a long term project imo.

Quailer I have no clue when he will want to leave the NCAA but I wonder if he wouldn't stay for a couple years before turning pro as Northeastern continues to improve their program and he needs to fill out his frame a good bit.

Fischer if he turns pro this summer (I would lean towards him returning to the NCAA for his senior year next season, but it's nothing but a guess), I would think he'll need 2-3 years in Hamilton before he's ready, again just a guess as who knows how he will handle the bigger stronger quicker players at the pro level.

McDonagh I could certainly see him turning pro this summer (just a guess) and if need be I could see him getting a game or two in the NHL next year, if injuries hit hard, as imo he could handle the physical aspects of the game.

Subban I expect to see some games with the Habs next year, but then again I think I like him more then most.

Conboy it's funny cause I wasn't too impressed with the little I saw of him last year in the USHL, and while he looked slightly better in the few games I saw him at the NCAA level, he's actually impressed me a little in Hamilton, as I thought he would struggled with the pace but he doesn't appear to be. I have no clue if or when he'll see NHL action, but when we play a team like boston, he's the kind of player you want to have in the lineup imo. I could see him spending a lot of time in the AHL first but I could also see him getting in a game or two next year or so if a big body presence is required and he's playing well.

Be really surprised if Chips doesn't make it next year. If he doesn't then we can definitely consider him a missed prospect, and he will probably be traded.

I would add Yemilen and that other russian defence dude, whose name escapes me at the moment (and I am not talking Valentenko).

Other than that:

Webber and maybe McDonough for a call up/look see.

PK Subban better not play with us next year at the start..

Let him play in Hamilton. DONT RUSH HIM... Play in Hamilton and see what he can do there first..

I would expect O'Byrne, Stewart and Chipchura to be on the team full time, same for S Kostitsyn.

Subban, Weber, Maxwell I expect to see some games in the nhl next year, Guys like White, Carle, Desharnais, Belle and Conboy could see time if injuries hit hard again.

O'Byrne will be a full timer next year... maybe even this year.

If we dont resign Schneider, Weber has a free pass.

I can't see Chipchura surpassing Metropolit and Lapierre, unless we use him as a winger or he improves a great deal he wont be playing with us as a regular next year.

I could see Desharnais doing a huge impression on the management.

Kostsytsyn will be a regular also.

Stewart might be a regular, but this type of player never has a secured spot on any team.

Didn't Halak join us in 06-07?

Also, I'd say O'Byrne is the safest bet right now as it seems to me.

I don't see Korneev as a prospect or even as a possibility at this point. I would really like to see Emelin although the only reason for it is what I remember from him in the WJC. Exactly the type of D I think people would like.

I agree for the most part. i don't see conboy getting a call next season however. i also think McDo will get a midseason call up as well.
