Thanks chaos,

I was disregarding goaltending, but didn't think Asham was older than Hartnell.

In any event, were a young team!!!

Niitty is in net according to Tim Saunders' pregame report. Carcillo media is up on the Flyers site. This should be a good one. Flyers can win this one with a complete effort.

i hope they bring back knuble next year. he does so many things well and he is really underrated. hes not flashy, hes not fast, but hes tough along the wall, kills penalties, is a leader and does the little things necessary for a team to win.

I'd think most philly fans like myself love phaneuf. Scary hitter, great all around. Love to have him on the flyers. Coburn was actually drafted ahead of him I hope coburn can develop some sort of physical side of his game near the level of phaneuf, he's got the size and speed.

still saddens me that the league saved avery's life by suspending him before the flames game. Dion would have kill him, and done it legal too.

I don't think Coburn will ever be a good hitter. But lately he has developed a mean streak. Starting scrums in front of the net and throwing guys out the way.

Gonna be a good game, and note to Western Canada CI subscribers, we do need to pay for this game tonight as it is a Flames PPV game. I am gonna pay the $14.99, so here is hoping it is a good game with a big Philly win .

I know this has been mentioned, but Carcillo's penalties do not hurt the team any worse than Upshall's did. Getting similar ice time, and bringing a similar amount of energy, I'd argue that Carcillo has hurt the team with penalties slightly less than Upshall, maybe a wash.

Danny Carcillo:
18 Fighting Majors x 5 Minutes Each =90 PIM
3 Misconducts x 10 Minutes Each =30 PIM
9 Offsetting Minors x 2 Minutes Each =18 PIM
0 Non-Fighting Majors x 5 Minutes Each =0 PIM
18 Non-Offsetting Minors x 2 Minutes Each = 36 PIM

Total Penalty Minutes =174 PIM
Average Time on Ice =11:58
Total Opposing Power Plays Caused =18

Scottie Upshall:
0 Fighting Majors x 5 Minutes Each =0 PIM
1 Misconduct x 10 Minutes Each =10 PIM
2 Offsetting Minors x 2 Minutes Each =4 PIM
1 Non-Fighting Major x 5 Minutes Each =5 PIM
22 Non-Offsetting Minors x 2 Minutes Each = 44 PIM

Total Penalty Minutes =63 PIM
Average Time on Ice =13:13
Total Opposing Power Play Caused =23 (Including 1 Major)

/I did love Scottie though and giving up a second seemed a little silly.

Philadelphia 2 minute bench minor for making Crosby cry(penalty being served by #13 Daniel Carcillo)

Upshall was one of the best players in the league at drawing penalties, too. Might want to factor that in.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly, Upshall was fantastic at drawing penalties, harder to find raw numbers for that though. I'd be willing to bet that with Carcillo's penchant for pissing people off he draws his fair share too.

You'd think we just traded Mike Richards for Sean Avery...seriously.
Age doesnt matter in a period where people get paid big bucks after their ELC. We are going to need a lot of players on ELC to be able to keep icing a competitive team in a few years. Coburn, Giroux, Parent will all need to be paid soon. 2nd rounders can get us good 3rd and 4th line filler, and potentially more(see Bergeron, Weber, Lucic, etc)

At the very least I'd expect him to go out of his way to lay someone out.

He was and Is, but according to behindthenet.ca They have both drawn the same amount of penalties, So I guess Carcillo is good too. But that probably includes his off setting minors, which he has more of than Upshall

I was going to use that pic for my Scottie tribute avatar, but Jones' creeper face in the background is too much for me to handle.
