Well this is the first game of the "no more excuses" run. The Rangers have fired the coach, made the deadline trades and brought back Avery. Now it's time for results on the ice.

There is no keeping emotions in check or whatever... Avery should just be the same player he was last year with the Rangers.

Piss people off and make some good plays. Torts system will allow him to hit more too, which should go further towards pissing people off.

As far as Antropov, is he capable of playing Torts system? Outside of the common highlights by him, I'm curious to see if he can pursue and cause turnovers defensively because that is what this system is all about. Zherdev is good at that, which is why Zherdev I believe has a future with this team.

Avery should be perfect in this system because he has speed, will chase, and cause turnovers.

And going by each report, the lines will be:

Naslund Gomez Zherdev
Dubinsky Drury Antropov
Avery Korpikoski Callahan
Sjostrom Betts Orr

Those lines have the possibility of being REALLY good... The first line has always created offense when they are together. Dubi and Drury are made for Torts' system. Antropov, who knows with those two guys.

Avery's line is EXTREMELY quick and each guy can/will cause turnovers. Each guy is also offensively enough gifted to cause some goals as well.

As long as Morris isn't a disaster, this could turn out very well for the Rangers

Link? and if so I am fine with that too. Basically Torts likes the way the lines have been going so keeps the #1 and #4 the same. Moves Cally back to 3rd line where he will be best and Antro on a scoring line. The D is the same pairings too just Morris in for Kalinin

Regardless I like the mix we have now! Let's do this

im pretty sure Voros is still with the team, he cleared waivers but didn't get sent to Hartford, so while I doubt he's in the lineup there will be a healthy scratch tonight.

Think if Cherepanov were still around. There would be a the future of a Russian dominant lineup.

Zherdev - Gomez - Cherepanov
Grachev - Anisimov - Antropov
...

Yea he is the only spare right now. I imagine it's becaue they have so little cap space and if they need to Potter comes up on D. They went with 6 most of the year so whatever unless I have to see Orr on D one game, haha

thanks for the link on the lines!

All the Ranger Killers are gone:

Campoli
Witt
Park
Weight
Guerin
Sutton
Thompson
Sillinger

Who the heck are they icing tonight?

This is a huge trap game. They have had 5 days off and playing against a weaker team. i bet Snow told them all "Beat the rangers and then lose every other game after that. Do that and 10,000 bucks extra for everybody

This is an if, and a big if at that, but if Tortarella can get that group of defenseman to perform to their potential simultaneously, I honestly think that is the best top 6 in the entire league. Every pair can move the puck, every pair can shoot and skate, and the bottom 4 are very physical. Again, we haven't seen this in action yet, but I really like the looks of that corps on paper.

Amen...same here. All up until Lindros scored but hey...this is an unbelievable game.

Alright boys...time to seperate the groupies from the rock stars.

JUST WIN...I'm not expecting much from the 2 new guys because it's their first time with the Rangers so I understand.

Avery...cheers bro! Go piss em off and setup Cally for a nice goal.

6-2 Rangers

Must win game. Can't give away points against terrible teams like the Fishsticks.
