With the guys that are still healthy enough to play (including Jere Lehtinen for this discussion), who would be the bigger loss that eliminates the Stars chances of making the playoffs?

Let's just leave out Turco because there's no question it's over if he goes down?

I would say Steve Ott out any extended time could cripple the team. The team just doesn't look right when he misses games. I think they could survive Lehtinen's absence though. I'm not so sure about Robidas. I have to block out the irrational hatred of him from some people to really think about it. He's statistically Dallas' best defenseman in terms of goals scored against while he's on the ice, but I think Turco plus the defenseman have the ability to absorb his loss somewhat.

Lehtinen is another big part of the PK that goes. We were awful defensively early without him. Hopefully we won't return to that.

We saw on Sunday what it was like without Ott's energy.

Yeah I'm surprised you didn't mention him. The Stars without Ribeiro... I'm not even sure I'd watch the games. Maybe for laughs.

If Marty Turco wen't down Tippett would play a 3rd defenseman because he has no faith in Stephan.

I think it's Sydor. If Sydor were to go out of the lineup for any extended period of time, the Stars would just cease playing, the Stars organization and the entire NHL would crumble, the end of the world would be near and people across the world would find the nearest holy center to seek salvation.

Or so we are lead to believe if we listen to Tippett, Razor or even Heika.

So does anyone have a guess as to what this team will be like tonight? I don't have a clue as to what to expect.

Ribeiro would be the biggest loss to the playoff chances. Not sure about second, but it sure isn't Turco or Robidas that's all I know.

Edit: Lehtinen's not being counted right? since he's out with the injury.

Son of a *****. Lehtinen's extra good against the Kings too - more career points versus LA than any other team.

It was ****ing Rob Blake. God I hate that guy.

The misallocation of Eriksson is now bordering on another bullet point to add to the Fire Tippett thread...

I'm pretty sure this is the worst paragraph ever written in the history of this site.

And where the hell is Lundqvist? I know some people don't like him, but Conner and Parrish and Barch before Joel? COME ON.

I'm fine with Parrish over Lundqvist, but definitely not Barch or Conner.

100% agree.

When does he not play? He's definitely going to break the games played by a goaltender in a season record for the Stars.

This has nothing to do with anything but it is a nice little thing to mention.

Quote:
The Stars have won at least 30 games in 13 of the 15 seasons that have been played in Dallas, including each of the last 12 The Stars have also reached 40 wins in each of the last five seasons (and 10 of the last 11 campaigns)...needing 10 wins in their last 19 to reach that mark again.
Woo consistency

Kings fan here, Great GDT btw....

Couple of points on the thread, the reason i believe there are so few games broadcast (~60 think you said) is we have so much competition for the Fox channel(s) in So-cal. Even though we have 2 (fs west and fs Prime ticket), there is USC/UCLA: football, men's/women's basketball, 2 NBA teams, and 2 baseball teams and all of these for the most part get to trump the Kings if they conflict.

Second point, about the Kings "tanking", i don't think we are doing an all out tank (yotes/avs) but the last ten games have seen the Kings win 2 games, so for the most part kings fans see no real chance at us making the playoffs. And i think the rest of the year will be about giving young guys/call-ups chance to prove themselves for next year.

And finally about tonite's game, i would have thought Dallas should take it handily, with the kings piss poor home record lately and the fact that they may be packing it in. But the amount of injuries Dallas has makes me think this will be a pretty even game. That being said if Turco shows up at all the Stars should take it, cause the Kings haven't been able to score at all the last few weeks (Columbus game aside)

Good news so far. Ottawa hammering Edmonton right now, 3-1, and it could be a lot worse.
