Who will it be?

With the recent event and the end of the "quinquenal plan", I really think Gainey will leave is job right after the playoff. If he choose to not come back next year as the GM of the Montreal Canadiens, who do you think should be named in charge of the hockey operations?

GM: Pierre Lacroix
Coach: Bob Hartley
Assistant #1: Benoit Groulx
Assistant #2: Eric Desjardins

You know very little about Gainey if you think he is going to quit. As for your selection of GM and coaching staff....ouch is all I can say.

Gainey is going NOWHERE. I'd bet on that. Why you feel that he probably will leave his job is curious to me, btu I don't think you really know what you're talking about.

Gainey isn't going anywhere (thankfully). He's recognized as one of the best Gm's in the league, and the obvious best fit for the Canadiens. He's made enormous improvements to the team, all you need to do is look at the team today compared to when he took it over.

pierre lacroix is a bad GM IMO

HE had a terrific team that could have won more cups ( 2 + ) but he made many bad choices. Sundin, theodore, fleury.

He dismantled the team while the red wings managed to stay at the top.

I don't follow your logic. Because the Habs have rebuilt the team, Gainey will leave? And which recent event do you mean?

Still, it's fun to talk about the future direction of the team, so...

Lacroix was once great, but the game passed him by before he quit the Avs. Look where they are now - that's the result of his final years.

I'd say Julien Brisebois or Trevor Timmins from inside the organization. From outside, maybe we could lure Risebrough over from Minnesota? Or someone from the Red Wings factory - Jim Nill?

The problem is that we NEED a GM that can speak french, can resist the pressure from the media and that holds enough respect that the media will have to hold back from bashing every single move or non-move he makes.

That means no rookie GMs and probably nobody from outside the organization. Thats why BOB is perfect, he is one of the most respected faces in hockey, learned french by playing in Montreal(impossible for the media to accuse him of hating french people etc) and he is completely immune to media and fan pressure as to what moves they think he has to do.

Gainey should go back behind the bench again, and take over the reigns from there again as that would motivate the players to try better!

Why is that a problem?
Are you telling me that it is impossible to hire a competent GM who speaks french and english, in this bilingual country???
I think the staff has to be able to speak both languages correctly.

You really think? Why? Because you would not want his job? You think he wouldn't sign ONE player who is at the end of their contract just to leave the team he has the up most respect for High and Dry? You think he wouldn't secure some players if he intended to just up and go? He's been a Captain, had his number retired Here and you think he would just leave because you "really think he would leave". Give me one sign (just one) that he would leave now when he didn't even leave when his daughter died???

IMO, BG and GC are gone at the end of the season. EPIC Fail, this year. They've blown it.

YA ok the season is not even over. And the use of "EPIC fail" makes you lose any credibility.
