Richards Turnovers

He usually gets a break bc he is Richards but he turns the puck over WAY to much, and tonight is a perfect example of how it can hurt us. His turnovers lead directly to both of Jokinens goals

Usually they dont hurt us that bad, but for the past two years he has been caught trying to do way to much, and it cant stay that way

I dont care who the hell you are you cant turn the puck over as many times as he does

My friend calls him a poor mans forsberg, and i can definitely see what he means....only problem is that he is nowhere near forsberg

Clean it up Mike! Sometimes the simple play is the best one

i know our whole team struggled with turnovers tonight so dont bother mentioning it, this is about mike's sloppy play all year

Yeah, he's been awful with puck safety this year. Personally, I think he got the C too early, when he should still be concentrating on improving his own game, but that is water under the bridge now.

He leads the team in turnovers yes, but hes out best Offensive player. hes got to try and create things. Where the hell would we be without him?

Ovechkin leads the caps in turnovers. TRADE HIM ZOMG!!!?!?!?!?!?!?

And of course its Brieres fault if he doesnt strengthen his ab and groin muscles. Unless this new injury is from someone hitting him

And? What player is immune to criticism and never having a bad game?

He had a bad game, it happens.

im not trying to start any kind of anti-richards thing here, i am honostly concerned with how many turnovers he commits and was pointing it out

hes my favorite player and i wouldnt trade him for anyone, but he is not perfect and he really needs to work on protecting the puck....thats a fact...his turnovers can hurt us, and they really did tonight

For every Mike Richards screw up he makes up for it with some fantastic play. It just generally happens in an another game.

I hate seeing him play games like this, but for all else he does, I can't fault him before others with larger issues going on with the team.

In all honesty, this has been a problem for Richards for quite awhile. It was evedent last year and most of this year too. He is a turnover machine. I love the guy, but its true. Its its annoying how he never passes to the open men on the breakout. Gagne is often open streaking down the left and hell pass it to a covered Knuble. I dont know what to say.

i have seen it for two years, its amazing how in denial people are that mike isnt perfect...are they choosing not to see it, or do they just not watch the game at all??

Richards isn't perfect, and the point you've brought up is a valid one. There were a ton of other problems leading to the loss tonight and there always are. Because he is the captain and he is thus under such scrutiny and is praised by people on here, I think there is added frustration when he's involved with anything remotely harmful to the team. Relax, he had a bad game.

Turnovers are a weak part of his game, but he also didn't do any of the other things he does particularly well tonight. He just turned 24. Twenty-four. He's in the 1st year of a 12-year contract, yet he's one of the most mature guys on the team, and he knows what he needs to improve. I don't mean to have a loud tone at all, because you are right about it being a problem, but it is something that will be worked out very soon.

Mike was way too patient tonight. It wasn't just him but I agree with whoever said he was the worst player on the ice. So do the three people watching the game with me. Luckily, it's not the norm but there's been too much dangling lately. Guys need to get it low and move their feet. We sucked at the basics tonight and Calgary forechecked and clogged the lanes.

My guess is there are alot of "tough guys" on here who really dont know alot about hockey, but think they do. Unless youve played the game at a relatively high level, its really hard to get a sense of it, just by "watching it on tv".

For everything Richards brings to the table I can live with it...in ****** efforts like this he seems like he tries to do it all on his own...going up against guys like Iginla that isnt gonna work...but i appreciate the effort.

If you really want someone to ***** at...here a list of guys...

Carter - hasnt done **** since december...hes netted to occasional goal but has not been the same player we saw in the first half.

Briere - what more can i say?

Jones - worst dman in the league when you take his contract into consideration.

Lupul - Only plays when he wants it seems.
