Thank you for not screwing up the trade deadline, Glen!!! Now GTFO before free agency starts so you can avoid running this team further into the ground.

I disagree. Poorly informed, unable to tell talent from industriousness, the Rangers fans have no idea what does it take to play the game, let alone to coach or manage the team. We deserve the product we are given. Plain and simple.

My thoughts...

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

The Rangers win two games in a row against a crappy Avs team and a very spirited but talent challenged Isles team and now we have to genuflect to Sather. Riiiiiigggghhtttt.

Thank you Glen. I almost ran into him when I attended the draft in Columbus in 2007. I'm sure you would have signed an autograph for me if I saw you since I was the only person wearing a Rangers jersey.

He did do a good job at the deadline. And he's managed to pull off a few decent deals over the years. And I don't entirely rip him for the Drury/Gomez signings because several other teams wanted them as well, they were proven winners elsewhere and they were extremely solid last season.

I think that's a positive as long as he keeps his play up.

Dude was shooting the puck all night long. We haven't seen that since the first few games as a Ranger.

He has a nice, heavy shot when he shoots.

The coaching change was 100% necessary.

He took over in 2000-2001. They had 72 points that year. 4 years later, under practically the same management style as his predecessor, they had 69 points. Took 4 years, a pathetic team and an impending lockout for him to make any real changes in the organization.

He may not have started the first nose dive, but he definitely rode it into the ground.

I disagree Chosen, I think we hit rock bottom a week ago when Wade Redden got an appreciation thread after playing 3 good games in a row. Our 6.5 mill dollar a year D-Man who had 1 goal in 55 games gets ******** in a thread after being solid for 3 games!!! You can't make this stuff up.

As bad as Redden has been, his negative impact on the Rangers pales to what Sather has done here.

NO, i don't appreciate Glen Sather one bit. Yea, he made some good deals that any other GM would of but overpaying 3 guys and effing up the team's near future not to mention trading Brian Leetch on his birthday, signing old ass players, and letting Avery walk the first time.

If you want to say he did a decent job on deadline day, fine. That still doesn't exonerate him for doing a poor job throughout his entire tenure here.

It's not like Sather traded Prucha, Kalinin and Dawes for Jay Bouwmeester. It's not like he traded two draft picks for Ilya Kovalchuk. He traded three players who weren't going to be on the team next season for two other players that aren't going to be on the team next season.

Anyone that is ecstatic about Sather's deadline moves just reveals the fact that all of our expectations for our GM have sunk to a tremendous low. We rejoice on deadline day just because Sather hasn't done anything horrible, not because he's done something great.

"Korpikoski still on the team! Yes! We didn't trade Marc Staal for Bill Guerin... Brilliant!"

This thread needs to take a chill pill.

whaaaaaaaaaaaa?????

he makes good trades but I think all his bad UFA signings and the hirings of Ron Low and Bryan Trottier outweigh them over the span of his career. And the fact that while in Edmonton he bragged about winning the Stanley Cup every year if he had the Ranger's budget and yet failed to make the playoffs his first 4 years (pre cap days). And Hugh Jessiman? That one will never die. And this is also the GM who traded Brian Leetch.

I've admitted that But I do not find it tragic. Therefore this thread is not pathetic to me.

I fault thim for one thing...Overpayment of UFA's. Other than that, I like that he is not afraid to go against the grain. I like that as a GM is is a risk taker. I also like that he for the most part has not traded the youth away. Only players that I thought were potentially "expendable"

He's never going to admit that he was wrong on Wade Redden, but hopefully he rights that mistake by subratction in the form of a trade at the draft...Man, i only he waited a year and tossed that $6.5 million at the NY native Mike Komisarek!!!!

That way Glen doesn't miss anything when the fish are biting. Thanks Don for continuing your great service to this organization. Can we start a Don Maloney appreciation thread?
Don really is great. I wish Sather retired years ago and Maloney was out GM

Im not a big fan of Sather, but I keep seeing this brought up and I feel like I have to defend him.

Trading Leetch was 100% necessary in order for this franchise to finally move forward.

I don't really see how. The team made the playoffs the season after Leetch was traded. There was really no place for Leetch on that team.

And to me the move was more than a hockey move. It was the principle of the trade that bothered me then and bothers me still.
