That's even worst than Roy...

Come on, Pat Quinn in Montréal? Think a little...

BG is the one who would coach IF he fired carbo. Hartley is nothing but a dirty coach from the Q, hasn't shown he can win squat in the NHL. Laviollete is a good option. The most likely scenario is BG comes behind the bench as carbo's assistant. They need a D coach this summer, most likely it will be breezy.

Gainey as interim coach for the season + playoffs.

Then reevaluate the staff during summer. My top candidate would be Pete Laviolette. I like Groulx, but again another rookie coach in Montreal...

he won a cup a few years back...and he took Atlanta to their only division title. Hartley can win in the nhl

So, if you would have to choose one coach to replace Carbo, who would it be?

1- Choose the best French coach available.

2- Choose the best non-French coach available.

3- Who would you choose between 1 and 2 without taking in consideration the langage ?
Gainey has to mop up the mess himself. The guys are respecting him. So...

I think Gainey and Carbo will be fired at the end of the season if we don't make the playoffs... If it happens, I think there's a good chance we see Roy and Hartley being hired as GM and coach.

Gainey for the reminder of the season... after that, let the interviews begin... but on the resume, there must be two things 1. NHL (head) COACHING experience 2. Must be able to communicate in french

...I like Hartley also...

He's not available, but I want Ken Hitchcock to be the Habs next coach. This guy loves hockey so much and works so hard.

Well, Gainey is a calming influence so he'd be ideal short-term.
However, long term, you need a hockey analyzing coach with a system, some experience and able to talk with players.
Hartley would fit that Bill. Laviolette would as well. Lever, Therrien wouldn't. They're the same type of coach than Carbo as far as I know.

Having said, I would love a guy like this. Hard nose and willing to do anything. Looks like he could teach this team a system but at the same time, I'm not sold on anyone. Seems to me that coaches lose their ability in MTL. Just ask the past 3 coaches.

Why is he unemployed then? Oh yeah, he isn't a great coach and his players don't like him either.

Bob and Lever would definitly be perfect for the rest of the season. Then next year: Pat Burns.

How's Hunter's French? He did spend a number of years in Quebec City.

Even though he played for our archrival Nordiques, I always loved his work ethic.

I love Burns too, but I don't think he's healthy enough for the job...

Oh yes, Dany Dubé never coached Team Canada in the 1994 Winter Olympics.

Pierre Mcguire. I couldn't care less if the coach or anyone speaks french for that matter, it's about winning not about what rolls off your tongue.
