I don't care if Otts hand is broken that doesn't mean he gets to run around on that fine line even crossing it only to get away with it. if he wants to play that way he better stand up and take a beating ,because not doing so makes him a gutless punk imo.
Didn't Modano come out and say earlier in the season that he doesn't like these kind of plays (Ott) on his team? They get rid of Avery and hatch his clone. Ott can run around all game at guys like Koivu and Kovalev but skilled players on the Stars shouldn't be surprised if they are targeted as well. You reap what you sow.
What good we can get out of this Hab team over the years is usually squandered or proves to be not built to last. How else to explain all the failed player developments, players who thrive elsewhere and inability to string more than two good seasons together? The Habs of post-1993 have on average missed the playoffs once every two seasons. Inexcusable? Sure. Expected? Yep.
Say what you will about him, but Steve Ott is good at what he does. However he's been throwing his hits today with his hands and stick up. He's got the Habs off their game, but the ref should have called the hit on Gorges right before the Stewart fracus that broke out. Both gloves went right to the head and his stick was way up in the air. That's pretty reckless and he should have to answer for it. The guy's not going to fight though, he has the hand injury as an excuse. So there's no reason to try, unless the score gets out of hand, then somebody should just tee off on him. The thing that's a piss off about him is he will square up and make it look like he's going to fight (like he did with Kostopolous) out of hopes that he will get the other guy to drop the gloves and draw the penalty. That's a ***** maneuver as far as I'm concerned.
Ribeiro is chirping up a storm tonight. I'd love to see someone shut him up.
