I think in the short term he's made improvements. But I highly doubt we will be able to resign Antropov, Zherdev, and Dubi.

The worst part is I feel that Dubi should be the odd man out of that group, if I had to pick 2 of 3.

I still believe we could and should have done better than that.
At best he got something for nothing. At worst he got nothing for nothing. Not bad.

I think we should be OK with Dubinsky and Zherdev. They'll get raises, but they havent produced enough to break the bank.

With Antropov being unrestricted, anything can happen.

Honestly I am not sure how but he managed to balance the team and stay under the cap

I actually believe in the top 6 now and I like the energy Avery brings to the 3rd. The 4th has always been good and the top 6 Dmen are solid

We can complain all we want about the dumb moves but overall they are playing better with Torts new system. Let's hope it continues!

Honestly moving Rozy will allow them to resign Dubi, Antro and Z.............I really think they need to let all their UFA's walk.......it would stink losing Betts and Orr but they deserve raises elsewhere and they can't sign them until they know how much they have to pay all the RFA's which also include Sjo and Cally who have to stay

I think Betts and Orr can be replaced with Hartford guys and Torts does'nt use the 4th alot usually anyways

only one of Mara and Morris can come back if they move Rozy and the other spots have to be Sauer, Sangs

Agreed, except Betts should be kept.

Dubinsky is coming off his entry level contract--he has no leverage and no right to arbitration, the only thing he can do is sign the contract he gets from the Rangers (with a 10% raise) or give up on the NHL and sign in Europe (and the Rangers would retain his rights in that case).

Gomez, Pyatt, and Busto for Higgins, McDonagh, and Valentenko?

Glen Sather, I appreciate you.

haha what a hoot

I am scared to see if they do a Heatley deal what its for.........I actually think they should just sign a UFA now instead of trading assets but if Rozy moves in the deal it may be worth it

Sather should never ever sign an FA outside the organization again and stick to trading/developing.

I take the opposite view: Glen Sather should sign EVERY FRIGGIN SINGLE FA outside the organization, and then turn around and trade them for other organizations top prospect within two years.

I eagerly await our upcoming trade of Wade Redden for Victor Hedman next offseason!

(By the way, if they do lose out on the Sedins, I bet you Glen is actually able to get more than a 2nd - can't wait to see the "Sather is a genius!" thread if that happens.)

As long as he doesn't get to excited and desperate tomorrow, ill appreciate him. He is very good at trading but he needs to learn how to sign players and build a good team in the modern NHL.

Excellent trade. I've defended Sather as "decent" in the past, but this bumps him up a few notches for sure.

Great trade. I just hope he isn't going to trade McDonagh right away. Let's see what he does over the next couple of days.

You really would think a GM that is this good at valuing and making trades, would be atleast average in the FA market.

But he get's a for today!

say what you will about his track record with free agents, he always pulls off some real good deals(Jagr and Avery deals really stick out) and recent deals he's made show he's willing to admit his mistakes...

I think that the Scott Gomez to Montreal trade needs to be highlighted on the next episode of the 50 Greatest Moments at Madison Square Garden.
