Jim Jackson or Tim Saunders.

I just like Tim Saunders. Any thoughts on this pointless subject?

Oh and best color analyst is obviously Coatsey! I think he may be drunk half the time. I love how all of the other commentators make fun of him.

And best announcer for hockey in general: Rick Jeanneret. No one gets more excited for games.

Oh yeah, here is proof that Jeanneret is a step above. If you don't want to watch all the highlights, just skip to 1:13. His voice just sends chills down your back.

Jim Hughson is EASILY the best commentator in hockey, that isn't even a question.

JJ.

And if you think RJ is the best announcer in the NHL, you must enjoy having your ears be *****. He sounds like he's screaming himself to the point he's crapping his pants when he makes a call.

Case and point.

Then why didn't you say that in the first place? You have no real opinion of your own.

Jim Hughson is good, but i just like how Jeanneret gets so fired up for games. Also, Hughson makes me think of EA sports NHL 98. I used to play that game all the time.

Oooo, that hurts. I remember that hit all too well. And that series was embarassing. There are better clips of RJ(not Umberger), like the one I posted. Also, I like that he screams himself until he craps himself. Thats commitment.

I understand the passion and excitement, but I think he takes it way beyond the line of extremely obnoxious.

Is this a legitimate question? Jim Jackson. He's the voice of the Flyers as we know it in this era. I can only imagine what more he'd be willing to say if he had Saunders's freedom of speech he gets on the radio.

He also does a damn good job with the Phillies stuff, which is very enjoyable. Not to mention his voice is just a good broadcasting voice. That's something I'm really nitpicky with-- a lot of guys broadcasting have real regular or awkward voices.

Best in hockey? I don't know. I don't get to watch enough to be able to comment.

And, as a sidenote, I'm in a fantasy hockey league this year with some friends. They're not very into it...no one really is...but that's besides the point. My team name is CoatseyStoleMyBeer, and I think I'm the only one who gets it.

FAIL!

He is fine when he simply talking, the guy knows what he's talking about, but that's it. When he gets any higher than a dull roar he is just about unlistenable. I think they hired Harry Neale to bring him down a bit.

The best for my money:

Jim Hughson
Bob Miller
Chris Cuthbert
Mike Emrick
Sam Rosen

Not that I can't take people disagreeing with me, I am fine with it. I would rather you respond to what I asked instead of just saying "No". Its fine that you think Hughson is better. I would just like better conversation is all.

Yeah, JJ does have a solid broadcasting voice. The homerism gets to me a bit at times (I do prefer fairly unbiased commentators), but he's very solid, definitely in the upper tier of NHL PxP guys.
