Plus, if I recall, the last time Carcillo and Avery played, Avery let Ott fight Carcillo for him.

What are your thoughts?
well my thoughts have been mentioned already by someone else.
Briere on the wing with Carcillo. Giroux to center.

Cote got dinged up last night didnt he? havent heard much else that he left the game with a "upper body injury" I would put Cote in the pressbox. healthy or not.

I don't think so, but who knows. He seems to be on a short leash since being allowed back...and Tortarello I would assume has spoken to him as well.

I think Dubinsky and Carcillo is more likely. Although...with a home and home, you never know. Anything can happen.

He tends to be the king of misconducts, as we've seen in just three games...he likes to 'chirp'.

I'd hazard to guess he wished the ref/linesman an early Merry Christmas, when he got in his way to go after Rivet.

Yeah I would say it was probably the case. Rivet got 10 minutes as well, so maybe something was going on and they wanted to make sure things didnt esculate more. We will see if there is any caryover between those 2 later this month.

As far as this home and home with the Rangers and this Avery/Carcillo angle I hope something happens but I am not expecting it to. Both players are going to be watched in both games so maybe they will get together and exchange recipe or 2 and that will be it lol.
I am not sure what the status is with Paul Mara with them, but he would be another guy to look for to drop em if the opportunity was there.

Washington-Flyers game:

Brashear is questionable. The Caps called off practice after the win against Nashville.

http://flyers.nhl.com/team/app/?serv...LPage&id=18891
  • Cote should be available.
  • Biron to start.
  • Briere to play.
Quote:

It appears that Flyers center Danny Briere will once again return to the lineup on Thursday, when the Flyers host the Washington Capitals in the fourth game of a season-long five game homestand (7:00 p.m., Comcast SportsNet, Tickets). Briere practiced with the team during practice this morning at the Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone.

"I think at this point I'm ready to go. Hopefully I'll get the chance to play Thursday," said Briere. "Since this injury started back in October, this is probably the best that I've been feeling."

"He looks good. I think we're pretty optimistic we'll get him in tomorrow," added John Stevens. "I think he's ready. I know he wants to play so there's a good chance he'll play tomorrow.

Riley Cote, who left Tuesday's 5-2 win over Buffalo with an upper body injury, also said he is fine to play. Martin Biron will get the start in net against the Capitals.

I am not to optomistic with that. This team has played pretty damn well without him this season. It just seems to me that he is a distraction right now, well for this season anyway.
Yeah I know the arguement about making this team better with him in the lineup with matchups ect. I was with that arguement back in January. Not now.
Like I said before, If I am wrong I will admit it. But until then I will take my chances with the lineup and lines we have rolled the last 2 games against Nashville and Buffalo.

As far as Cote goes, whatever. He had become irrelevant to me at this point.

There's still 20% of the regular season remaining and we're also only one week removed from the trade deadline. There's plenty of time for him to integrate himself into the line-up so the Flyers are firing on all cylinders come playoff time......

if he actually is healthy this time.

I hear ya, and have felt the same way and haven't stopped short criticizing our beloved little hobit...but I really (as a fan) want him back and contributing. We've made some roster decisions to work him back into the lineup and want to see him producing as such. While I still think he's more of a luxery than anything, as we have been doing just fine without him...he is very much capable of making us better. A healthy Briere would trump any other teams deadline deals. I remain (TRY) optimistic.

Cote - Heh, whatever.

From someone who watched their practice this morning:

Quote:
He looked good in practice today. (Flyers.com had a live webcast of it).

It looked like he was playing with Giroux & Nodl. They stayed after everyone else was off the ice to practice passing the puck back and forth. I think Coburn & Carle were out there with them too, feeding the puck to lead the rush.

I doubt he takes a regular shift this game. Probably will see some PP time and maybe spotted shifts. Just a hunch.

I'd create one (for fun), but I refuse to put that kind of jinx on him, or our club.

I was just watching the new videos they put up on the Flyer's website of Stevens & Briere today, they said the same thing.

Stevens said they are going to monitor his minutes for awhile, so he can get back into game shape and be ready to roll in the playoffs
