Vermette's First RDS.ca Article since trade

Just so you guys know. Vermette is a fairly frequent contributor to rds.ca (French Sports station web site)

Here is his first article since the trade

http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/270971.html

It is completely in French and I am not qualified to translate it

I think it's cool that he mentions Brassard as one of the guys who helped make him feel comfortable in Columbus. Hopefully those two guys hit it off and become a great one-two punch down the middle for us for a long time to come. Our French Connection.

Hockey is still new to Columbus. The fan base is not there yet but will hopefully be helped by a Jacket playoff run this season. It was good to see children at the game, growing up in a Columbus that has always had the Blue Jackets in their lifetimes. Tonight, the Blue Jackets play the red-hot Pittsburgh Penguins at Nationwide Arena. I will be present at the game and will post a game recap article later tonight or early Friday morning.

One reason veteran defenseman Adam Foote wanted out of Columbus was that he wanted to win, and in the NHL that means — at the very least — making the playoffs.

A little more than a year after he was traded back to the Avalanche from the Blue Jackets, Columbus is in the thick of a fight for its first postseason berth and Colorado is in last place in the Western Conference, destined to be done playing when the regular season ends April 12.

Oops.
I wonder if Peca or Modin will rub this in the next time they go visit him.

Maybe we should each send a golf ball to the Av's front office, Attn: Adam Foote. XOXO the CBJ Fans.

My favorite translated sentence:

"I know I've just come up with the Jackets, but I see Steve (Mason) as a quiet guy, laid, which is in its case".

Oops.

I think some of the reason we are better this year is because of Umberger. He's really given the second line something to be dangerous about. So, not only did Foote go from a bad team that got good, to a decent team that sucks, but he, essentially brought in one of the bigger pieces to the puzzle.

Again, my French is lacking, but I'd suggest it's better as "I am Used in All Sauces." - or maybe "put to use"

Not sure that's much better - maybe he means to say he's spicing things up around the CBJ.

From here on, I shall refer to Vermette as Allspice.

Hilarious! Babel Fish translated it as

"I am used with all sauces"

A case where reality is not nearly as interesting - "à toutes les sauces" is an expression in french that basically means "in every possible way". So in hockey it means he was used on the power play, penalty kill and even strength.

I can't read it because it's just going to piss me off to no end. It's best I stay away from negative things about this team or it's players because that stuff just gets to me. I would be sending hate emails and hate comments (internet tough guy I am).

The best cure for that is to learn how to privately laugh at the morons.

THN Article on Mason.

Great read in the latest THN on Mason. The kid really came a long way, and has endured a lot. From being relegated to a Junior C team, after being chosen very late in the 04 OHL bantam draft. Only two other players selected in that draft are now playing in the NHL, Patrick Kane, and Jordan Staal. You can read this article in the March 16th edition of the Hockey News. Go Knights!

I read it last night, great article, if you're a subscriber you probably already have it by now.
Mason couldn't even find a Junior team that wanted him until the London Knights were willing to take him. They had a good goalie coach there, and he started getting better from that point, and the rest is history. Maclean was a big fan of his going into the 2006 draft.
