BTW, anybody else think that at the beginning of this interview, it seems like the reporters are too scared to ask Torts any questions? Like 2nd graders who don't wanna give the wrong answer?

They are scared ****less. Hes an intimidating guy, lets face it.

BTW,

I love Torts comments when someone asks him about the other team, whatever team it is... its usually to the tone of ... "I dont coach that team" or "we shouldnt be concerned with them" or "we should worry about ourselves." If it was Renney, he would have went on about what players to watch out for and that they are a good team, etc.

This is the exact quality i love in a coach and exactly what Renney was missing. Coaches who are too concerned with what the other team is capable of bringing to the table are overthinking things and unconciously sending out a signal that you are there to play them, not for them to PLAY YOU - thats important in hockey. You want the other team to play at your pace, and the momentum generated from that is pivotal in hockey. ITs a very subtle thing a coach brings, but it rubs off on players.

Its one thing to be prepared and get a gameplan together to face a certain club, but you always have to keep in focus what you and your team should be doing first and foremost. Thats what makes a successful coach and team IMO.

Arnott out, Ellis in for Predators

http://data.tennessean.com/v2/bin/pl...tennessean.com

Should make for either a really creative lineup for Nashville or one that simply is inept offensively. Expect Legwand to move up, Fiddler to slot into the second line center role, Smithson up to the third line center role, and then either Ryan Jones or Ville Koistinen to play as the winger on the fourth line opposite Belak.

It doesn't matter what other teams do at this point in the season. All you can do is win the games you have. As for the post made earlier regarding not wanting Buffalo to win, I would have to disagree. Buffalo is behind us in the standings, we are not chasing them we are chasing Florida. If we win and Buffalo wins there is no difference in standings between us, but we will gain 2 on Florida. But if Florida wins, yes we pull ahead of the Sabres a little more but are still behind a team we need to pass to be in the dance.

very college hockey like atmosphere. A lot of chants, a lot of "you suck", and a loud group of 15,000 people.

Guys, our PP sucks. Now without one of our top PP guys (Arnott) tonight, it is even worse... Ellis leaves a ton of rebounds (and i mean a ton) so get to the net. Also, look to get a lead on the Predators as we are not a fast team like we used to be. So the Preds gaining any momentum will be hard when behind.

Good luck to you guys!

I hear you, but I think Torts is a little too focused in his team, if there is such a thing. In Tampa, I used to say the same thing... he is sometimes ill-prepared to face certain teams, and you know he is not watching tape of a western team like the Preds. I hope he is preparing the team for the Flyers, that's for sure.
