Recchi is 41 y/o and is a UFA this summer, but he's still playing a strong game so i'm guessing he'll atract some interest.
Forsberg might as well retire officially, Selanne, Shanahan, Roenick and Zubov should as well i think.
Why should Selanne retire? I guess it's because he can still put up 30goals and 70+ pts a season?
Anyways, I have a feeling we wont see too many of the big name old guys retire this summer because of the Olympics. After next season, we are going to see a large number of greats hang em' up.
I'd be suprised if Sakic came back next year. It took him nearly all of last off season to decide to return for this season.
I don't know, I think he'll come back for 1 more yeah simply because he probably doesn't want to go out injured from the snowblower incident. But if he can make it back for the last few games of this season, then he might just call it a career.

At the possible risk of rekindling an old flamewar (which I really don't want to to, honestly, and if it does I'll happily hop off a cliff or something)... is there any chance of Adam Foote retiring after this season?

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

I doubt it. He signed a two year deal last offseason. I can't see it happening this year, though it's a possibility the year after that.
Roenick is 50-50 or better for returning, and could be back even if San Jose wins the cup. He has been injured a lot, and he has been dying to get in. He said (paraphrasing). "At the end of the year, I am going to talk to Doug and will go with what he thinks." In my opinion, he is more than acceptable as a 4th liner and the intangibles make it not even close.
As of now, Grier, Roenick, Moen, Goc, Mitchell, Plihal, Staubitz, and Cavanaugh all need new contracts, and the Sharks need the cheapest bottom 6 possible, so Doug very well see Roenick having great value.
If the Sharks win the cup, Blake could retire, but I don't think so. He bought a house and moved his family to San Jose and he is still a very effective player. If he wants to play, every team in the league would love to have him.

Except LA
Ditto. I don't see him coming back here. LA's got O'D signed through next season now, and a top 4 of Doughty, Johnson, Greene, and Quincey. I could see LA looking for another veteran dman but not at Blakes age or price tag.
