The good thing from last night is Buffalo losing. Let's hope it continues and they drop out of the playoff race.

One less team to worry about would be nice...

Pittsburgh is on a crazy winning streak, you would think at one point the law of averages would catch up to them and they lose a few..they are due.

i hope all the wins we pulled out against the flyers eventually pan out for us so we can grab home ice in playoffs....remember the flyers last year ...hot and cold until playoffs hopefully we can do something to that extent

Updated for last night's only game that affected us. The Hurricanes lost 3-2 to the Blackhawks in a SO. So with an extra point, it makes the standings that much tighter. It'll be an unbelievable race till the end.

Standings Updated

We got a couple of decent results...but certainly not the perfect night given our own score.

Well the good news is they play games on consecutive nights FOUR more times this season.

We only do it once. So we may be able to catch a break there.

with our team and play i'd be surprised we make it to the playoffs. Kinda hoping we don't cuz I don't see us winning the cup, I'd rather get a good draft pick then loose in the 1st round.

That sad part is that even if we do miss the playoffs in the East, we will still have 5 teams worse then us in our own Conference, plus probably 7 teams worse then us in the Western Conference...so a best case (or worst case, depending how you see things) is that we get a 13th overall pick which is not that great.

14 games left and 7-6-1 should get us in. I'm not worried about making the playoffs, I'm worried about what happens once there. I want to see some improvement from this team going into the post-season.

Maybe we shold start looking at a bright side to everything. I would rather this team peak in the playoffs then in the regular season. Last year we peaked at the end of the regular season and took a bit of dump in the playoffs. Hopefully this year we can start firing on all cylinders as we enter the playoffs and ride a wave of momentum from there...

They should have a lot of gas left in the tank.. European models are normally very fuel efficient.

Updated after this weekends results. Standings are getting even tighter now! The good news is that a lot of the teams we are fighting against have been losing...the bad news is that they have been losing in OT or SO so they are still getting points..

The most remarkable thing about this year's playoff race is that non of the teams in the East are seizing their opportunity to create any separation in the the standings. Usually, a couple of the playoff bubble teams are extremely hot at this time, making each point lost of huge importance.

In the last week:

Habs: 3 of 6 possible points gained
Flyers: 4 of 8 possible points gained
Panthers: 2 of 6 possible points gained
Rags: 4 of 8 possible points gained
Canes: 4 of 8 possible points gained
Pens: 6 of 8 possible points gained
Sabres: 3 of 6 possible points gained

Even though last week was discouraging for us Habs fans, the other teams in the race (aside from the Pens) didn't take advantage of the lost points. Things could be a lot worse. Hopefully the Habs can have a good week and take 5 or 6 points (while giving none to the Rags).
