Injury update:

Holmstrom is not playing tonight -- knee injury.

http://www.freep.com/article/2009031.../90317028/1166
Quote:

Update from Joe Louis Arena today: Tomas Holmstrom will miss tonight's game against the Flyers because of a strained knee.

Holmstrom suffered the injury late Sunday at Columbus when he got caught in a rut in the ice, he said.

This is an especially bad break for Holmstrom, as he's only been back four games since sitting out 18 recovering from a sports hernia.

"I just twisted it bad," Holmstrom said. "I'm day-to-day."

Mike Babcock said the Wings would dress all their defensemen to plug the holes. Derek Meech is filling in for Valtteri Filppula (back spasms). Brett Lebda was at center during the morning skate, but that may not carry over into the game.

d'Etroit.

Only the Canadians say dee TroyIt. Most locals say dih Troit or Dee troit (mostly in the city itself).

Happy St. Patty's Day! Should be a fun game!

Hopefully, the Flyers come out ready for this one. They know that the Red Wings are the best. I also hope Danny starts to come on. No Holmstrom tonight for the Wings.

every time I hear it pronounced that way I think of Gordon Lightfoot singing the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. That's probably where Canadians got it from

I officially feel old, once i hit 29 things just went down hill in a hurry(rolling my car 6 times on the turnpike didn't help either).

I was at the home game in 98 when Daigle scored 3 or 4 goals. For one game at least soothing my pain for the loss of skinny vinny, who i saw annihilate the AHL with the phantoms in 97. After that game, it just went down hill.

I miss the good old days when the red wings were just plain awful.

I agree, I used to pull for Stevey Y because he was one of my favorite players back in the day, but now they proved their point, please go back to sucking.

if this one gets ugly at least its St Paddys Day. That gives me enough reason to not comprehend what the helll is going on in this one.

From Flyers blog "Flyers Goal Scored By ...";

So, after all this negativity, lets get a recap going....
1. best team in the league
2. best roster in the league
3. haven't won against the Central Division all year
4. haven't won in Detroit in over 20 years.
5. There is no 'ctrl' button on Claude Giroux's computer. Claude Giroux is always in control.
