Simmonds had his head down. If it wasn't for that, his head wouldn't have been checked.

Yeah, I'm not too happy with the hit. When I saw the LA player coming in I thought they were going for the big hit on Malkin. Maybe Geno thought the same thing.

Either way, it was dumb.

What a dbag. He acts like he is gonna play the puck and lets it go, completely blindsiding him. I know this was a physical game, but totally unnecessary.

You guys don't get it.

There was 14 seconds remaining in a 4-1 games.

There was no need for that.

It wasn't an elbow, but was an intentional shot to the head, which I hope is removed from the game very soon.

I wouldn't suspend him because it isn't against the rules, but if I were the Kings, I'd of sent someone out there to hurt Malkin enough so he wouldn't do that again.

You're right. Who does Malkin think he is? How dare he! Playing until the buzzer like that, he's got some nerve!

good god. Every thread about Malkin or Crosby doesn't need ovechkin comparisons. What Ovie does or doesn't do has NOTHING to do with this.

LOL. Keep reaching guys. Malkin's elbow remains basically at hip level the entire time.

It wasn't the hit itself. It was a fact that it was a blow to the head at the end of a 4-1 game when it was obvious that Simmonds was just coming in to give a simple stick check. He wasn't coming in flying like he was going to seriously challenge for the puck. He came in pretty half-assed (understandible at that point in the game), and Malkin took the opportunity to pop him one in the mouth with his shoulder.

Then after the play when the Kings realized what just happend, EM bee-lined it to the locker room as quickly as possible. Didn't want to stick around and answer for himself.
